New screenmodes SOLVED
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hi guys,

I can't seem to add new screenmodes through the radeon tooltype anymore.

I just wanted to create a 1024x768@75 and 400x300@70 and so on. But they don't show up in prefs after I add them. What am I doing wrong?

Yes! Finally!

Up and running with OS4 final. Amazed by those beutiful icons. I just want to thank you all for the great help you've given me. I wouldn't have been writing this from Ibrowse 2.4 without you! Again, the community comes through, and this is why I came back those 18 months ago. That and OS4, of course.

It feels great! Just need to close the tower again and is back to way it should be.

Oh, one more thing. Everytime I start the Amiga, it goes straight to UBOOT prefs. Then I exit it and it boots smoothly to workbench. How do to get around it?

Yeah, it's broken then, Joerg... I tested it in uboot-shell and it didn't show anything...

Luckily I just bought a macmini so I can strip my old pc of it's dvd-burner and cd-rom drive...

Hopefully, this will do the trick!

Well guys, thanks for all your help so far! Now I got the right version back in the system.
Idetools shows my drive nicely.

Flags : $0000011D - present, supports DMA, removable media, ATAPI, interrupts used,
Xfer mode : best pio 12 (PIO 4, 16MB/s) / best dma 66 (UDMA 2, 33 MB/s) / current 12...
Total blocks : 0
Blocksize : 0
....
Power mode : 2 /idle (ready for operation)
IO1 /IO2 / BMCR @ : $1F0 / $3F6 / $CC00

But it still doesn't recognize any cd's... Drive's broken or what?

And so on...

Now what do I do?

Burn the ISO whit MakeCD,

Any way a CD should show up on the desktop, AmigaOS4 even support MacFileSystem HFS+

I will try that, but I am still worried that nothing is showing up at all. No matter what I put in the drive. This burned cd, the original os4 disc, nothing...

Ok

What program did you use to burn the CD (sounds like if it
isn?t bootable at all)

Huh???
What did you foun in Workbench prefs?

Most definitely NOT the IDE prefs...

I?m puzzled, what?s UMD? (Apart from being a medium for the PSP)

Okay, I'll try to explain. I entered UBOOT prefs on boot but couldn't find anything on IDE ports at all. Then I found the uboot prefs in workbench prefs drawer and in there I changed to UDMA 2 on my IDE settings..

Now, it only boot to the insert disc screen...

Yes, now I found them... in workbench prefs... But I probably should have touched it. Now the AmigaONE boots to the "insert disc" screen and not to the workbench.

Changed to UMD? 2...

Still can't boot from cd-rom...

Getting sad from all of this...

Where do I set this "pia" mode? UBOOT prefs, yes... but where?

Oh, the cd-rom is listed as "non-bootable" in the early startup menu...

Oh, I did use a cd-r as I understand people have been having trouble with cd-rw...

I guess I have to try putting a different cd-rom drive in my Amiga... It doesn't recognise any discs anymore so something is wrong.

Waiting to see if it'll solve Mason's problem first.

It's really strange because it used to work...

Hmm... Let me know what you discover. It could be that my drive is simply not working anymore.

But hopefully someone will have a solution.

OS4 and cdrom trouble...
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hi guys,

I wanted to install os4 final and it has presented some trouble.
First I downloaded the ISO and burn it on my mac. Then I tried
to boot the cdrom on my AmigaONE and it kept complaining that
an SLD file or something was missing.

I booted to the workbench and the cdrom doesn't show up there either.
In fact no cd or dvd is showing up on Workbench. If I try the format program in workbench
it tells me that the cd capacity is 19mb...

Also, it can't find devs:mountlist...

Where do I start?

What is your favourite Amiga computer model and why?

I have to say the A1200... It was the first Amiga I used for anything other than games. When I bought it (Desktop Dynamite pack) I also got an extra disc drive and a Danish user guide to OS3.0. Then I realised how great and wonderful the system was...

A year later I bought the Blizzard 1220 and for christmas my parents got me a 635mb harddrive... Oh, I was so happy then!

And now... sad and nostalgic...

Oh, this is great news...

May I suggest a release on my birthday the 20th of december? And while we're at it, Amiga and Hyperion are free to use this date as well for exiting news!

Me too I have old manuals from my Amiga500, so I think its time for new printed manuals, for me it all depends on the packaging, I think over years I have used AmigaOS4 it?s worth the investment to get final CD, but only if it contains printed manuals.

Hey, hey, NutsAboutAmiga!!!!

While a printed manual is WAY COOL, if we want to only pay US $25, a BOOK costs about $25 by itself.

Yeah, I agree it would be expensive. But I would really like to see something in the likes of "Das Buch" for OS3.9 that Haage & Partner made...

I would buy that...
