Re: Aleph One

@Thematic

I cannot reproduce your problem. I unpacked Marathon 1 data zip, copied binary over and played. Default is pure SW rendering which is slowish. I will investigate if SW/compositing could be the default setting.

@Srtest

I use a default stack setting of 128 KB. For test, I reduced stack to 64 KB and got a DSI, kind of expected. So, if you have a small stack, raise it to 128 KB at least (in Prefs/DOS and Prefs/Workbench).

I will add a stack cookie for the next release.

@Raziel

Which bug you refer to?

If you refer to http://forum.hyperion-entertainment.biz/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=3830 , I don't think it's SDL issue, compositing setting being the only difference between "fast" and "slow".

New SDL2 version will be released after 2.0.6 release.

Tickets #4 and #5 depend on available MiniGL/Warp3D features.

Finally, a new port is released: http://capehill.kapsi.fi/

Remember that you need also data files: https://github.com/Aleph-One-Marathon/alephone/releases

@AmigaBlitter

Compositing is used in blitting and rectangle drawing. SDL has no antialiasing features (texture filtering may be used when blitting).

Tried one more thing, a Speedlink Torid gamepad. Unfortunately I didn't too much research because it's a wireless one. It has dual-mode operation (Xinput/DirectInput): once again the USB stack recognizes controller in both modes but AmigaInput doesn't.

Tested Xbox One and Steam controllers with USB cable. They are recognized by the USB stack but not by AmigaInput.

BUMP. I would like to know is it a hieronymus issue or elf.library issue. In elf.lib case I could open a bug report.

Here is a better crashlog: http://forum.hyperion-entertainment.b ... 8&hilit=hieronymus#p41758

Got myself a Logitech F310. Basic pad, seems to work nicely. Cost about 30 euros.

I have tried to search a list of working joypads for AmigaOS 4 but only found a bunch of random threads (like this). Is there any official list?

I have a Competition Pro USB which works but is quite "clunky" and naturally has only one stick. Xbox wired controller is not recognized.

Looking for a twinstick pad mostly.

Super Methane Bros SDL2 conversion: http://capehill.kapsi.fi/

Improvements over the older SDL1 version: 640*480 resolution, VSYNC, 2 players and joystick support.

MiniGL. If there is an OGLES2 version somewhere, maybe someone (else) can port it.

Ok, thanks for clarification. I will create a ticket for this so that it will not be forgotten.

@Daytona675x

Sure, this isn't a 3D benchmark. Anything SDL_renderer is 2D.

Could you clarify this gl_PointSize thing a bit more? I checked a few sources and it looks like we are in undefined zone if we leave that out. I have made a special test package where definition was removed: http://capehill.kapsi.fi/sdl2/

Anything on serial? Can you make binary + sources available?

Re: SDL2

@kas1e

Looks better. Perhaps slowdown is related somehow to shader program switch or such. To be honest I'm not familiar what OGLES2 renderer exactly does since I haven't been able to test it myself anyway.

Re: SDL2

@kas1e

Yeah, those are quite curious. Almost if OGLES2/Nova would be doing some heavy initializations during those "drops" because blended versions are fast. Hopefully Daniel or Hans can check the benchmark at some point.

@kas1e

Yes, https://sourceforge.net/p/sdl2-amigaos ... AD/tree/trunk/src/render/

There is one for classic OpenGL, one for OpenGL ES 1 and one for OpenGL ES 2.
