@djrikki
Thanx for quick testing and suggestions.

Then why do I see 4.1 icons relegated to a separate drawer? Can you please instead take the initative and upload 3.x to Aminet and 4.x to OS4Depot separately? It gives a very bad first impression. If its absolutely essential 4.0 icons can always be relegated into the separate drawer.

You are right, this was already discussed on A1k.org and release 1.4 will be submitted to OS4depot including OS4 Icons and to Aminet including OS3.x Icons.

iBatch is not OS4/PPC native (still very fast as it uses Os4 native libs and datatypes), so we may still ask wether adding OS4 Icons will qualify iBatch for OS4depot ? This is the reason, why you cannot find iBatch 1.x on OS4Depot.

Quote:
In 4.1 Icons drawer there is a replacement icon labelled 'iBatch-Examples.pdf... but there is no PDF in the distribution.

I am not in front of my OS4 machine, however in Icon drawer you will just find #?.info files, I might just call it pdf.info... however pdf Docs can be downloaded from
iBatch website.

Quote:
EDIT: iBatch freezes computer on run; not even a visit from the GrimReaper.

Thanx, very valuable, however havn't got an idea what the reason is...
- maybe I did not raise the stack while building the archive (should be 10000 inside tooltypes)
- you are using SAM460 ? right ? Maybe your installation ? Try using Version 1.3 and/or boot from CD and retest.

However I'll check first, if I come home... might have been a bit late yesterday evening.

Thanx for infos, very appreciated

However, from enduser perspective it will be vital, that all Qt ports are usable on slow SAM440 Systems for serious work. The spreadsheet example inside Qt Package for example is unusable for longer tables/serious work. The scrollspeed and "handling" speed is to slow. Hope it will be a lot better with Gallium etc. If not, I donnot see much advantage* in using Qt based apps over e.g. Debian for SAM or AmiCygnix.

*besides native menus and filerequesters, which is really good, as it makes Qt faster and more "Amiga compliant".

So, I would suggest porting apps which donnot heavily rely on graphic/GUI speed.

However, still very very good that coders start developing for Qt and that we have it !!

@eliyahu

I also went the way Chris suggested, even here in Germany I found this USB switch used by Chris (different label, though):

German Online Store

It is available as DVI, HDMI, VGA, PS2/USB or only USB version. It works perfectly with my SAM440mini on all updates (didn't try latest UBoot though).

Very important (and that justifies the price) is the emulation of Mouse (3 Buttons + wheel) and Keyboard. This means SAM440 still thinks it's a mouse and keyboard plugged in even if you are on Win PC. I have to use external power supplie though. Works great since years.
If you have a A4000/A1200 it will give your Amiga USB ports as you could plug in USB Keyboard+Mouse and pass the signal via PS/2...

@Wanderer

1. In matter of fact, jpg compression = 0 will be handled as #image_nocompress internaly.

2. wondering why I didn't thought about "placeholders" before... will do, but not sure if it makes it into this release...

O.k., this is a screenshot of recent "conversion profile editor" (V.1.4 beta).

This is a suggestion for the new "conversion profile editor":

What do you think ? Disadvantage: more mouseclicks needed to define a "conversion profile"

Betatesting and suggestion would be very wellcome, so come on folks, give it a go and comment... No Installation required ! Only drag drawer to HD !

I am especially interested in suggestion on how to "cleanup" / "simplifiy" conversion profileeditor. Thanx for your help

@all
find a (very early) beta here:

iBatch Beta 1.4 - 22

New Features
- new scaling algos / suitable algo will be autoselected
- "quality" scaling = bicubic scaling algo / if needed lowpassfilter
- add sharpness to your images
- FXPlugins (Gamma, Watermark still WIP)

I would be especially interested in how "quality" up- and downscaling works for your photos, and wether you like the "hardcoded" (soft, none, medium, sharp, extra) sharpness values ? Maybe I will consider to use other "hardcoded" values. And before you ask... No, ! I won't make a slider for sharpness (less is more...)

Help/Betatesting very appreciated, thanx

@kas1e
PNG Icons can be batch converted to AmigaIcons using "ImageConverter". Check AW.net, there is a thread about it somewhere.

@samo79
nop, it is newest Version (and yes it was compiled and published before Amiganoid 2011) which I refered to as V 1.3.1.... you can check by looking into your output dir. You will find a file called rename.lut.
However, I just mentioned V 1.3.1 here because I did not state it here in this thread already.

@samo76
Thanx for the hint... I actually did not change the version string... but the one on my homepage is the latest. Changelog to Version before (1.3.xx) is the fact, that a "rename.lut" will be generated, which can then be utilized by JHead plugin in order to copy/create EXIF Headers for the converted pics (take from original image).

Sorry for confusion

@all
O.k. Some news:

Currently I am working on Version 1.4 (Version 1.3.1 is available via iBatch website, even if the banner still states "1.2". I guess I have to change that...

Version 1.4 will mainly feature "FXPlugin System". These plugins will be processed before the image will be saved, plugins planned for release are at least "Gamma Correction" and "Watermark".

Resized Image
Resized Image

It will also feature different resizing algorithms (hopefully a "bicubic" one as well) incl. different "sharpness settings" (e.g. in Photoshop they have "bicubic sharper"):

Other Plugins like "Sepia", "Greyscale" etc... can easiely pe programmed, and will follow shortly.

I suggest:

MUIBase: recently updated, best database on Amiga
FinalWriter: O.k. old but still working good
TurboCalc: see above
iBatch: batch convert and organize images including EXIF support, comes in very handy, if you got a digicam. Will be updated sometimes this year (see www.geobiz.de/ibatch.html

Take a look here, for a review of "productivity soft", sorry it is in German only...

Re: What happened to Qt??
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

I installed Qt and did a bit of testing, I also tried EasyImage Sizer. However, this is my impression:

- A bit slow on my SAM440ep in terms of useability, MUI/Reaction OS4.1 is a lot snappier.
- but still lot faster than e.g. AmiCygnix or KDE or Xfce on my SAM440ep Debian.
- native Menus + filerequesters are very wellcome in terms of useability.
- missing OS4 theme
- some small font/graphic glitches here and there
- especially scrolling in e.g. "textedit" example is slow.
- All in all I'd say a very good job.

Well, some suggestions:
- port apps with simple GUI first in order to prevent slow down (e.g. scrolling etc.)
- said this, I believe any sort of wordprocessor becomes unusable on SAM440 677Mhz, when working with a lot of text/graphics/formulars.
- I would love a decent spreedsheet soft, but I guess once we have to much lines in it it will also have slowdowns when scrolling.

However, I guess there are applications which donnot use massive GUI or scrolling. This could be:

- Scanner frontend
- CD/DVD burning stuff
- Frontend for GPS devices
- pdf maker / pdf split and merge
- homebanking soft
- mp3 tageditor
- mp3 database/playlist manager
- "Outlook light" ToDoList, Calendar, Reminder, Adresses

However, I am aware of the fact, that some stuff is probably bound to missing HW drivers (such as Scanner frontend). I am also aware, that slowdowns, theming etc. already had been discussed.

Nop, Mixer doesn't help. I am not even sure wether this is just software related. Even screendraging causes noise (not even playing music or anything else). I can even hear HD booting. Maybe interferences which shouldn't be there... ???

Well, I have got that one on my SAM440ep mini as well, since I can remember and I am still running 4.1 upd2 (!). Always, when I scroll with my mouse wheel, I get this sound. Thought it was due to bad onboardsound of SAM and/or bad mouse. Never looked close into this issue.

O.k. that did the trick ! Thanx.
However, could be a bit snappier, overall it behaves far better than Amicygnix. Tried EasyImageSizer as well. Even my iBatch 68k resizes much faster ! However, I guess speedoptimizing EIS was not the goal, wasn't it !

Installed Qt from OS4depot, but getting an error message:

Failed to load shared object
libssl.so.1.0.0

as timberwolf also uses shared objects, it (still) works.
