@pvanni
When I tried the other night I just got DSI and crashes. After a long long hot week and a few beers tonight I revisited. I changed some of the default values (which were probably left over from my previous working install) and hey presto, everything works well, although with some visitations of DSI as you say.
It would be great if the DSI issue could be identified because overall it is a fairly simple way to see flv files played (and download).

PS Thanks for taking the time to work on Tubex

US Postal delivery Costs

Are US post rates for real? Every quote I have ever seen for UPS seems absolutely over the top. For instance someone selling AOS4.1 in the US for $155US or roughly $185 Australian Dollars will send it to you via UPS for an additional $101 US dollars. For frick sake get real. I know UPS is not the US Postal Service (USPS, the official post service) so it is obviously a blatant "backhander' situation. My advice is do not buy from such providers, at the very least they should offer is normal US Postal rates. Look at other providers in the UK or Europe who offer much better value. Terra Soft (YDL) are also very guilty of this practice. ace http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Amiga-OS-4-1-P ... 2&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177

@Slayer
Mate that is exactly what i did. When my A1 (then x 2) died and I was virtually Amigaless for months I thought my life was over -:)
So I bought myself 2 x SAMs. One I use as a serious nmachine, the other for mucking around with OS4 and Linux but I ain't going to be Amigaless again if I can help it.
BTW my original A1 lasted 7 years or so (from whenever they were released), I replaced that with another. I suspect they were both killed by power spikes frequent in our area because of massive building expansion happening around us.
SAM ain't perfect and doesn't have the grunt of A!s but it is enough to get more people involved and set a baseline for expansion.

@Raziel Until my A1s (G4 933)died I ran them with 1Gb (2x512modules) no problems also with no adjusting of speed. BUT both were ecc which cost more. From memory if you are using both slots the first slot must at least contain an ecc module. Just before my A1s departed i bought 2 x 1gb modules, never got a chance to test them, I will have to give them to my brother to try in his G3.

@ktadd Hey thanks for this. I have just downloaded and tried, after finding my getvideo was well out of date all has gone well so far. I can at least download a clip to my HD. Will try out the other features shortly, this gives a little boost to OWB. Thanks again for your work.

@ChrisH Sorry to digress for a moment if you would indulge me. I commented on your post re this subject on AW and I agree Simplemail is a beaut program and i look forward to the Christmas updates which have become a little bit of tradition.
Your post got me thinking about Amiga software and where there are duplicate solutions for a need. For instance I really enjoy watching Tunenet develop and flourish, it is an exciting program heading to be the Amarok for OS4x, of course Amarok now has some fierce compitition in the Linux world. Indeed Tunenet has a way to go but it is incredible this is being done by one main coder and some helpers (no offence Fuzion etc).
On the other hand I was stoked (very happy) to see a new update to AmigAMP, we should recognise the long term contribution to the AOS scene of the authors of this program and associated projects. Just the other night I spent hours listening to music on the new AmigaAMP.
Choice drives competition, competition drives innovation, we are very lucky that in email clients and music programs (there are others like Simpleplay etc) we have active developers, not in cut throat competition but developing differently, that is healthy.

@logicalheart Welcome mate. TonyW is correct, this is a chill out room. In this place you can discuss the things of immediate importance to us, 4.1 and HW, I visit AW have done so since inception but it doesn't cater for the original idea on why it was started, AW is a very good meeting place for "whole of Amiga" where our focus is on 4.1 and capable HW, much the same as Amiga Org does for classic. No big deal it's just we have fewer arguements as a result. Enjoy your stay.

@CygnusEd
Ed I hope you are not at all disheartened by these discussions. I played around with AmiCygnix last night for ages and the reality it is slower than native programs but not slow per se. It fulfills an important gap for us at the moment. Additionaly this thread is what I love about AOS, exchange of ideas, debate and learning. I hope people who find Amicygix "slow" now fully understand its role and limitations and the amount of hard work you have put into it. There were some good suggestions made and you seem to have some new ideas as well. It would be great if improvement is possible.

@cygnusEd
Just did a complete fresh install on my second SAM flex, all working great, no sign of those problems I emailed you about on my first SAM. The difference being I used SF2 on this one and FFS on the other, I will reinstall on that later.
I added the X fonts, all went smoothly and I reckon it does speed things up a touch, Abiword seems to scroll a bit smoother, of course it all may be wishful thinking!
Brilliant package mate, well done. Any new apps planned?
