@Chris Quote: The hotlist window would need some core modification, I think also for new tab Why? Since arexx knows about the current window and newtab etc. what I would do is take the output varibles from the hotlist code and either send an internal arexx message, create an arexx script in t: execute it and delete it, write a script to accept variables and leave it in t: while NetDurf is running or even (shudder) use Execute(). Even a simple thing like this (in blitz, don't know C) should do the job:-
cmd.s = "rx command netsurf;OPEN " + url$ ; default mode
select urlopenmode
case 1
cmd + " NEWTAB"
case 2
cmd + " NEWWINDOW"
endselect
Execute_(cmd,0,0)
Far easier to add a subroutine to tweak the output a little depending on the users settings than to modify the existing source.

@invent Quote: Good to know that it might be possible using webcams, thanks for the info. AFAIK those older webcams only allow single shots to be taken so they're suitable for the old style point it out the window and leave it running permanently updating every few seconds/minutes type applications. streaming video from web cams does not work as the usb stack does not support it.

@ChrisH OS4.1FE users could use their 'waiting for updates' time instead of sitting around saying 'is it done yet?' 10 times a minute

@Chris Quote: 1. Copy an image to an SD card. 2. Oh.. that's it. IF you have a mac or PC yes, if like me you don't you can't do it that way, I've tried RAWDisk and never got the SD card to boot. The Amiga way is: 1. Extract NOOBS_lite_v1_9.zip to an empty MicroSD card. 2. Stuff it in yer pi hole 3. boot and pick rasperian to install. See the free MAGPI magazine issue 11 (p.20) and issue 12 (p.18) for how to install and configure CUPS.

@Chris Maybe you should add a page to the OS4 wiki on how to do that, or if you don't fancy the work suggest it to epsilon for his blog

That's the sort of answer I was expecting... didn't think a 'longer elastic band' would do the job.

@anyone Would be nice if scout could be updated to work properly on OS4/PPC same as it does on OS3/68k, being able to get the CPU usage of any task was quite handy at times but the 10 year old OS4 version just gives 0.00% for everything. os4 version here: http://aminet.net/package/util/moni/Scout_os4Source here: http://aminet.net/package/util/moni/Scout_src

@helloworld
Probably a silly suggestion but can't you reduce the 5 or 3.3 voltage BEFORE it gets to the cpu card so all the different jumper settings will also be reduced?

@Capehill
Working fine here on my X1000. One little request for a future version though. pad the CPU % with a zero if <10. My X1000 hovers around 9%-10% which makes the screen/window titlebar text shift left and right all the time which is a tad annoying.

@xenic I get round the wholer hotlist thing by having my own as an HTML page that I have on a button on every browser I use. It takes a little more effort than having a different list in each browser using it's internal methods but then I only have 1 file to update to get it added to all browsers. As I outrageously stole images and html code from AW my hotlist comes framed like amiga windows. So dig out your keybaord and a plain ascii editor and write (er... steal) some html and roll your own

I stand corrected! I'm still working with stuff I learnt 30 years ago on my A1000, the old deep stuff does seem to bubble up to the surface occasionaly.

@noXLar No unchecking write will make the problem worse, amiga protection bits are: H P S A R W E D H = Hidden, not shown by things that support it, eg. workbench P = Pure, means the program has been compiled so it can be made resident (throwback to floppy times) S = Script, I'm a script, treat me like one big boy A = Archived, is set by backup software R = Readable, If this isn't set DOS CAN NOT READ the file contents W = Writeable, If this isn't set the file CAN NOT be written to, eg. config files would not be updated. E = Executable, Run me baby... D = Deleteable. Turn this OFF to stop files being deleted but they can still be changed. Quote: when i checked information with each files they where all checked on at the protection Ok. a little hint... Don't use information for that sort of job, just open the window and switch to text mode (ramiga-2) and it will show you all the protection bits at once, ramiga-1 to return to icon mode.

Sounds like it's saving to env but not envarc:. Check the file in envarc isn't write or delete protected.
forget that, doesn't use env...
check in the user drawer and that all files have the w & d bits set, especially 'choices'.
edit: AND the drawers they're in as well.

Look at page 10. http://www.intuitionbase.com/a1_xe.pdf1.59 and 1.44 are the only documented voltages but if you can measure them there are several available jumper configurations.

This is all backwards for better, easier future ports we need MUI ported to at least linux, get them to use our superior (relativly lightweight) GUI instead of trying to port their overbloated offerings

Considering how lazy some users are I'd keep it as short as possible as they're probably terrified of having to type 17 characters :) OdyGo OGo StartOd OI or IO (Invoke (Odyssey) Invoker) Hey-O (as in hey-o, hey-0, it's off to browse we go - groan) Or just LO for Launch Odyssey LOL - Launch Odyssey Laughingly /me goes back under his rock.

@ChrisH
I just ran netsurf 3 times and got 3 splash screens but each new window left the titlebar of the existing window visible and sysmon reports only one arexx port.
Ibrowse just opens a new tab when I run it again and only shows one arexx port but it could be because I'm using a different version or some setting I forgot about years ago.
