@xeno74

Oh no.... I just read to the end of this thread after making my post above. This is very unfortunate. :(

Re: AmigaOS support forum.

The Linux discussion is limited to a separate subforum and not integrated with the AmigaOS discussion, so what is the problem? As an X1000 owner I have found the information and the discussion very informative and helpful. Having Linux on hardware that also runs AmigaOS is a handy thing for some customers, and these customers of A-Eon hardware of course are also Hyperion customers too. It's a kind and helpful (and mutually beneficial) service for Hyperion to host this discussion on its established forum platform rather than insisting A-Eon create some other support forum elsewhere for this.

Where's the beef, really?

Don't know what the problem is, but it is not that the torrents are compressed here. They are not. I can download with my Macs, so not a huge issue for me.... just one of those things to nag me about why it doesn't work on my Miggy.

No joy making this work here. Like Eliyahu, hope it is something simple.

@interrogative

Very we'll said. We have some fabulous creative software, some new and a whole that is vintage but still workable. Let's get busy. :)

Got most of the names for the photo IDs figured out and uploading captions now. Still a couple more to figure out.

I didn't get a couple names and am embarrassed to say I forgot a couple more. But I know them all for the last "family portrait," i.e. Photo No. 45.

They are Ken "Sundown" and Lyle Haze in the front row, left to right. The back row, left to right, has Bill "Tekmage," Matthew from AmigaKit, Valiant, Flip, Paul Sadlik, Trevor, Steve Solie, Tony Wyatt and AlexC.

I do not think Mac OS X is very much like the original classic Mac operating system at all, to be honest. But that is OK with me because I did not like the original Mac OS very much. But I happen to like AmigaOS very much. I do not want it lost in the process of improving it.

Linux kernel is a great kernel for ... Linux. Amiga kernel is at the core of the Amiga operating system. I'd rather have it no other way. Let's go our own way. I am patient.

Raziel, sorry.... I never thought to try to feed the SID output back in to the CD audio connector, but that sounds like a good idea if it works. I just have the output going to a separate connection on my Yamaha powered speakers.

Ah, a properly detailed pictured at last. Thanks!

Cyrus, you are a handsome piece of kit. Wonder what kind of case you will live in... Customized Fractal Design R4 like the current X1000 batch or something else?

AmigaOS Team Lead Steven Solie to take part in Sunday Q&A IRC chat

Not too shy to talk

This was announced over on AmigaWorld.net and is a sure thing for tomorrow...

http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/v ... wmode=flat&order=0#711445

AmigaOS Team Lead Steven Solie will participate in a moderated question-and-answer session during a portion of the weekly Asha Develder Memorial Internet Relay Chat this Sunday, July 7, 2013.

Here's the text from the announcement...

Chat will be starting at 3pm EDT (2000 UTC). We changed the start time in
order to include more people from Europe, as the original start time was in
the middle of the night for them. But we're still keeping it going through
until 11pm EDT (0400 UTC), with stragglers until whenever.

SPECIAL GUEST: Joining us at 6pm EDT will be Steven Solie who is the acting AmigaOS Development Team Lead.
Steven will try his best to answer all of your questions about the one and only Amiga Operating Sytem. Suggestions for improvements to AmigaOS are also welcome.

During the Solie visit, the channel will be moderated. Please feed your
questions to the designated channel @operator or +moderator. Before and
after that, it'll be an unmoderated channel.

Standard Ashachat rules apply: No religion or politics until after things
wind down at 11pm EDT. And other IRC etiquette rules apply, as well, such
as no flooding.

And some instructions courtesy of number6...

server = irc.superhosts.net - port 6667
channel = #team*amiga
have patience with connect time

The irc template for sending questions to a moderator/op:

"/msg [operator nick] [question]" no quotes

In the meantime, I did grab "touch" off Aminent just so Catweasel prefs editor will stop squawking at me. Heh heh. ;)

Looking forward to watching more development of the SID player, Ian. Great going!

Re: SID playing on the Catweasel MkIV

Ian, that seemed to do the trick. I also removed DF0: from dosdrivers and later after a reboot added it back. Not sure if that helped or not, but booting without the error and access to 880K floppies is working via DF0:. I have only re-tested read access so far.

I did call up CatWeasel prefs editor and am able to play SID test tones for both chips. However, when i SAVE settings I get this error...

touch: Unknown command
touch failed returncode 10

What is this "thouch" all about? Am I missing a command?

Ian, sorry for the delay before I could run the test. Just installed your latest stuff from the archive linked above.

Booting the X1000 results in the following Grim Reaper dialogue box before Workbench is fully up. It's on "Workbench Screen" but the screen is white with no icons. The text...

Guru Meditation: 80000003
Task 0x6220ec80 ("DF0/FastFileSystem 53.2 ")
generated an error of type DSI (Data Storage Interrupt)
on address 0x7fdaeadc
Redzone was not damanged
Stackpointer is inside bounds

There is one 3.5-inch floppy drive connected and DF0: dosdriver mounted.

Reverted to previoys catweasel.device v1.9 gets rid of the Grim Reaper at boot.

Ian, tested and works here, although I do hear some distortion in some of the tunes I tried. Also, booting my X1000 with the supplied catweasel.device in devs: causes a guru. I went back to my previous catweasel.device version 1.9 and no more gurus.

Ian, very good! It's the wee hours here and I am just getting home, but tomorrow if I can I will test this on my X1000 with CatWeasel Mark IV and its pair of SID chips. I'll let you know how I make out.
