Re: AmigaOne - dead...

@npanag
I think he means that the new power supply doesn't feel any load and thus doesn't give power to the board. Since you have power on both the USB (USB mouse, right?) and Ethernet ports I doubt that is the problem. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Check the fan connection and try to hook your old power supply up if possible.

@328gts
It's not closed see: http://www.amigabounty.net/?function=viewproject&projectid=43

It's closed for donations as the author asked for a certain amount to be reached. Further donations can be made directly to the author, which will result in us paying less to Paypal:)

Re: Paying an Amiga developer

@abalaban
I don't know what a freelance makes here and I don't know wheter there's actually enough work for developers here atm.

Also keep in mind that the living expense is very high here and tax is 60% when you earn that kind of money.

@Elwood
It's an exiting project but I find it to be a really hard project to succeed with. You also need to find a developer you could trust to actually work 40 hours a week and deliver on time. It's not impossible at all but we would really need to get things planned carefully in every detail.

@Elwood
I know 2 different developers (winblows..) that have salaries in that range, they are at different companies and even get a nice bonus each Christmas. I thought it was pretty common in western Europe.

I should have been a developer

@Elwood
But a fulltime developer is more like $6500 a month at least around here. Still not saying it can't be done but things like that need a good deal of planning and you need a lot of people willing to pay EVERY month (I will;)

We'd also have to keep in mind that even if working fulltime a single developer can't perform miracles.

Re: OpenOffice to AmigaOS 4 - When?

@Joeled

Part of OO requires JAVA but AFAIK on Linux it's possible to get a usable version installed without JAVA.

But do we really need OO (we have Abiword in AmiCygnix)?

IMHO what we need is a rock stable OS with all modern features implemented and a rock solid webbrowser (Firefox/Timberwolf) to use f.ex google docs.
Future is going to be net based for a lot of functions so I am wondering if it will be worth the effort to get a HUGE application like OO ported when alternatives will reach us via the net

Why does FB need the rights to transfer your content? Transfer your content to 3rd parties, other companies that might use what ever you put on FB?

@all
Screenshots done by me at the Amiga event in V?rl?se (Denmark)this weekend where I showed WIP Timberwolf. We had a nice time there with around 28 people attending which was quite good weather and all taking into consideration.

The shots does not (AFAIK) show any progress since last pics done by the Friedens.
sorry for any confusion

@TrevorDick
Looking forward to see the new aeon site but looking forward even more to see the case design. I hope it's futuristic but with some details that makes it possible to see that it's an Amiga.

And I hope Hyperion will soon be prepared to give us some details about what they are working on for this machine.

Good, now you just need to convince your partners that a laptop design is also important. Doesn't have to be the fastest Amiga but long battery time please

@328gts
It's really a shame AEON didn't prepare just a basic company website with some information on both the AX-1000 and AmigaOS4.1

The new machine has hit Danish newz.dk (news for nerds) 2 times the past week and if it's the same other places they must have a lot of curious people visiting.

@Skov

I will be getting one as well, but I only promise to get one if A-EON promise that the next model will be a laptop/netbook.

Unfortunately I more and more often find myself in the couch with my Ubuntu laptop than at the desk with my AmigaOne. I'm lazy after work

-

EDIT: Was just told Friday that my boss has problems getting work and that he wasn't sure that he had enough to keep me employed.
Looks like I'm out of job from 01.02 unless he gets a large contract during the next week or two. I am so sick and tired of this situation as I was just about to get my economy back in good condition and really liked my new job

Well there will absolutely be NO new amiga stuff for me 2010 and stuff I had planned to do and spend a long time on (for the Amiga) will not happen. What a crap weekend!

But before OS5 comes OS4.2,3,4,5,6... I hope to see this board supported a bit earlier, it looks good even if I had hoped for something portable.

While we wait for the next piece of the puzzle (and the Alpha release of Timberwolf), remember that you can still make donations to the bounty (and the other open bounties).
