Yes, too slow for any serious use.
However I think it would be good for testing AROS stuff. I made some attempt to install AROS under BOCHS to test my Hollywood apps., but did not find a way to start it.
It complains about VGA features, and I am not able to set proper vga bios.
Is there anybody, who made it succefully boot AROSx86?
Bye!

@desler
I agree with the previous speakers! This is a promising project.
Is the file format is decided yet? Please note that PageStream's IFF file format documentation is already released to the public. It is a very comprehesive format with great compatibility. The older versions simply skip the new features when loading a document, that is the way what should follow all large applications.
To use this format for Cinnamon Writer would allow easy exchange of documents for the DTP application which is running (will run) on several platforms.
Bye!

Good work by both.

Thanks!
According to the aspect ratio presets, have you any idea for a list that satisfy all favor? Should we get it from the printer preferences, or a user editable list?

The features maybe there, but your cropper does not work here. it says it needs pngaplpha.library in line 249.
which is another problem as I need jpg, png is too slow for the 060 that'll be running the slideshow.
There is also the problem that I can't use workbench while it's running.
Does cropper actually crop and scale the original image data? it looks like it scales up the screen image rather than scaling down the original image.
I have just uploaded a new version which has jpg save format. Hollywood has its weakness if try to use on a field that not intended for. A good example is that it can only open predefined screens, so I have to open a borderless window to fullfill your original idea. Anyway you can drag that window with righAmiga+CTRL. The scaling is always use the original image. Hollywood is a very easy to use application and it makes me very happy to playing with it, so forgive me if I will bother this topic in the future with cropper0.xxx Bye! ahh, the link again: cropper0.4

Excellent TY :)
Now for a few requests for 1.3.
Can you get rid of the little white square in the middle and allow dragging anywhere in the box that's one of the 4 side boxes, finding that box can be very tricky on very light imaghes.
Can you also add a tooltype to limit the box to within the image? something like NOBORDERS maybe.
I do not want to promote my cropper, but these features are right there!

Hmm.. actually that might be a bug in the horizontal pass of propercroppers scaling routine. I'll look into it.
Ah, I can see, the vertical step is smoother than the horizontal.

If anybody interested, there is an improved version to try out of my cropper at cropper.lhaThe menu do not work yet, you can use only the keyboard shortcuts. It has a rotating feature! @Xeron Here is some images that describes that scaling difference, however I do not know much about that scaling algorithm. 1. original image scaled with imagefx: 2. scaled to similar size by ProperCropper 3. scaled by hollywood's scale function

ok, I had a quick look... there are a few problems...
loading a portrait image totally screws up the aspect ratio as the image fills the screen but the selection box isn't adjusted to compensate.
The image is saved as a 5mb BMP <shudder>.
I think xeron beat you just a teeny bit on exe size too
It was made in a hurry, so lacks something here and there. That problems could be rid off in the next touch. The exe size is a real shame I know, but this is the price if you are using Hollywood. Size exchange of programming knowledge :) Anyway compare the two if you upscale a small portion of the picture. Hollywood makes a bit smoother upscale than the method used by Xeron. However the beer is for Xeron with all of my respect! Bye!

@Severin Hehe! I was late as usual :) Xeron, you are great, as usual! Here is my contribution for this "contest"! cropperI have not had enough time to create a gui, but if somebody needs one then ask it... The readme is accidentally missing from the first archive, so: space - crop and upscale s - save l - load esc - quit Lazi

No hinter? IMHO most users will prefer the best available hinter or the AutoHinter. A font which needs "No hinter" to be shown properly has either broken hints or demonstrates a bug in FreeType2...
It is intended to be a fixed width font and autohint ruin this. Quote: That would be nasty if I have to explain these steps to the user during install. Quote: Why should the user install the font(s)? Most applications which need fonts that are not distributed with AmigaOS come with the font(s) and eventually an install script.
So if the install script copies the #?.ttf, #?.font and #?.otag files for the font it is installed correctly? Bye!

Font install by installer/script

I'd like to know if there is a proper way to install a new font to the system.
Manually I should do the followings: - Start TypeManager select the source and system fonts drawers then install the font - To be shown properly I have to modify hinter attribute to no hinter in TypeManager
Could it be done by a script somehow? That would be nasty if I have to explain these steps to the user during install.
AFAIK TypeManager do not accept commandline parameters and doesn't have an arexx port.
Where are that font attributes are stored?
Thanks in advance for the help!

@DISPLAY {Mode="Windowed", X=#RIGHT, Y=#BOTTOM, Width=1, Height=1, Borderless=True} Execute("Echo \"Hello World\"") Hi alexw,
I was quite literally going to order Hollywood 2.5 in half an hour, until I saw this.
Beleive me, it is a quite simple syntax. You can transform most of the Amos sources in minutes. There is much more in this syntax than in any basics what I saw. Here is another example: @display { Mode = "ask", Desktop=false, Borderless = true, Sizeable = False, Title = "Starfield1", X = #CENTER, Y = #CENTER, Width = 800, Height = 600 }
star={x={}, y={}, z={}, sx={}, sy={}}
centerx=400 centery=300 starnr=100
createbrush(1,3,3,#white) selectmask(1) setmaskmode(#maskinvisible) plot(0,0,#white) plot(2,0,#white) plot(2,2,#white) plot(0,2,#white) endselect()
createbrush(2,3,3)
for i=0 to starnr star.x[i]=Rnd(1000)-500 star.y[i]=Rnd(1000)-500 star.z[i]=Rnd(900)+100 star.sx[i]=0 star.sy[i]=0 next
setfillstyle(#fillcolor)
function starfield() For i=0 to starnr displaybrush(2,star.sx[i],star.sy[i])
star.z[i]=star.z[i]-5 star.sx[i]=star.x[i]/star.z[i]*100+centerx star.sy[i]=star.y[i]/star.z[i]*100+centery
If (star.z[i] < 6) or (star.sx[i] < 5) or (star.sy[i] < 5) star.x[i]=Rnd(1000)-500 star.y[i]=Rnd(1000)-500 star.z[i]=Rnd(900)+100 endif
b=255-(star.z[i]*(255/1000)) selectbrush(1) cls(rgb(b,b,b)) endselect displaybrush(1,star.sx[i],star.sy[i]) Next endfunction
setinterval(1,starfield,1000/50)
Repeat WaitEvent Forever And here is the OS4 executable.You can quit by pressing ctrl+c.
