@Lio
You have to have FTPMount installed and active. Then when Add, it just needs name and password (optional) and address.

Download it from Aminet, OS4Depot, AmiUpdate, Amiga On The Lake, or most convenient and current: "Check latest version" from the Project menu.

******************************

PLEASE NOTE:

If you use Prefs->Datatypes->When select an item, or Never, then Filmstrip
view style will NOT show any images. And it will not show any files if you
have Prefs->View style->Filmstrip->Show only drawers and images.
If WEx doesn't know what type the file is, then picflow.gadget doesn't, either.

******************************

###### [1.4 build 3100] - 2017-07-13
### Added
- Preferences->Preview->Automatically play sound files.
When Preview Pane is open, you may not want songs to autoplay.
- Preferences->Preview->Sound volume.
Preset the sound volume for preview.
- Preview pane now has a volume slider, loop button, smaller play/stop
button, and play time data.
FLAC still does not show total time.
- Palette requester now has a transparent color and new "System colors" to
pick from.
- Preferences->Preview->Show image details.
Show a line at top of image preview with details about image. Handy if not
using Details pane and Status bar.
- Preferences->Preview->Background color.
Set the background color in the Preview pane when viewing images.
Select Transparent from the palette requester to revert back to normal.
-Preferences->Preview->Details text color.
Set the text color for image details. Green text on black background is good.
- Every window now has a close gadget.
- Prefs->Preview->Show EXIF data.
If enabled, the Preview pane is split 60/40 to show JPEG EXIF data
and comment.
- F6 to toggle the EXIF data pane, temporarily.
- Shortcut keys for buttons where appropriate. But as always have been:
Enter = Bold text button (OK)
Escape = Cancel
- Preferences->Preview->Text tab size.
- Striping effect in Preview Sound and Preview Picture EXIF data.
- Content view style shows time for audio files.

### Fixed
- Image scale factor was off 1 pixel. Couldn't tell until started using the
new background color option.
- Filmstrip view style was broken due to a missed variable change.
- The datatype information is now fully shown for the item when it is first
selected, not after picking another item.
- Resizing columns didn't always get remembered.
- Random Code value causinng error in handling Bookmarks.
- Pattern errors weren't unblocking main window.
- Invalid patterns are now reported.
- EditNodeNoDrawer() was expecting the wrong variable, so several default
texts were blank. Then it was potentially setting the wrong name and paths.
- If made permanent changes in Preferences to Bookmarks or Favorites, then hit
Cancel, the changes were not reflected in the main window.
- Top line is remembered when change view style.
- If no preferences file exists at startup, the defaults are saved better.
- Content context menu wasn't honoring found picflow.gadget or not.

### Changed
- Play button is now Play/Stop. No longer recessed; it was hard to see.
- When checking for FTPMount, "Not installed" is now "Not detected" if not
active but installed.
- picflow.gadget is now in the Tools folder so doesn't need to be installed
to use, but still can be. WEx will look in CLASSES:Gadgets first, then Tools.
Thanks to Tuomas Hokka for use of it.
- The way gadgets are added/removed.
- Preview Pane set no none when any sub-window is opened.
- A handful of default preferences settings.

@ChrisH

The speed difference between Filer and WEx is mainly creating the lists. There is more going on with WEx behind the scenes.

Changed to "not detected." Good idea.

The datatype updating itself is a happy accident. It is doing it on it's own. I tried to do it manually but became more of a headache. Maybe down the road still...

Javier beat me to the rest.

Workbench Explorer translators wanted
Just popping in
Just popping in

Workbench Explorer has been translated into:
Spanish, German, and Italian.

I am looking for new translators for:
German, Italian.

I have ~80 new strings in need of translation for those 2 languages.

If you would like to do the entire catalog for your language, that would be great!

If you would like to help me out, please PM me here or sign up on my forum and post a message there in the Localization forum (or PM me there: mritter0).

Thank you!

Empty .CT strings
Just popping in
Just popping in

With each new version of my program I add new locale strings. But I don't hear back from some of my translators before I want to release it.

So I copied the new empty strings to each language .ct file. Ran CatComp to make the .catalogs. It errors with "non-empty string translated to empty string."

I was hoping since the string in the .catalog file was blank it would use the internal English string.

Is there a way around this?

@walkero
In v1.3 there is a new option to change the way the datatype info is added. It can be turned off, or get when click on an item.

Dimensions in the status bar makes sense. But now could not always be available. I will think about it.

For GoogleDrive, Dropbox and FTPMount, I am not sure how to check if it is actually mounted or not. I am just scanning the list of devices. Do you know what I should be checking for?

Thanks!

@kas1e

1) That is a bug in the listbrowser.gadget. It has been fixed in v53.74. I don't know why it has not been released to the public. salass00 fixed it and another bug for me.

2) Yes, that is not the behavior I wanted.

3) jabirulo answered

4) Not hard to implement. But will require Striping to be disabled. Down the road.

5) I have noticed it. I don't know if it has to do with the size of the image or what.

6) That is a priority fix.

7) Hex viewer is just what the name says: viewer. If you want to edit a file then do what jabirulo suggested.

8) Working on that right now. Will be an option.

I have also made note of your other suggestions. Keep the ideas coming.

Re: Workbench Explorer feedback

I will take a look at kas1e and ChrisH suggestion tonight.

I didn't change anything in the scanning of devices, just assigns. FTPMount is used by WEx. Are you sure it didn't mount it in v1.1?

When I first started to develop WEx I wanted to see as much information as possible. I was developing in WinUAE and fast PC. Now on my X5000 things are much faster.
BUT...image datatypes are slow, music datatypes are much faster by comparison.

As is, if you don't have the Dimensions column shown, it will not get the image info, just what type it is (PNG, JPG, etc). Same for MP3, if columns aren't shown, it won't look at them.

I can add an option to turn it off completely. Maybe I never really cared how slow it was since I don't have several hundred images in one drawer. I have them broken out in more and smaller drawers.

Taking notes. Keep the ideas coming!

@Dandy
Multiple tabs, not listers. It's not the 1990s any more.

And unless your destination lister changes to what you want magically, then what is the difference with WEx and tabs?

@kas1e
I will double check on archive extract. I used to only support LhA, then switched to xad. LhA could do, xad can't, IIRC.

You can drag from WB to WEx, but not WEx to WB, and not WEx to WEx.

@ChrisH
I believe I fixed the images issue.

@all
The prefs are no longer saved automatically. I added Load/Save Preferences menu items and a "Save prefs on on exit" option. I can live with it.
I still may auto-save some settings, though.

The move/resize issue is also fixed. Left over command from testing it from months ago. Oops.

New version coming soon.

@ChrisH

Those images are used once, in the Go menu for Users. Do you see the Users menu item? You should not. So those images should be skipped and not loaded.

I found the cause of the slow resize/move. Totally looking me in the face the whole time. I didn't experience because I didn't have the same GUI settings enabled. Super easy fix.

@ChrisH
Weird. I will look into that. All the images load the same....

Some people have mentioned that WEx is slow responding to window moving and resizing. I don't get any of that. So I made a short video using WinUAE (not my X5000) to show it working on a "slow" system.

Re: recent Ringhio Server error at start up

@ChrisH and @all

You both came up with the solution. Not taking away anything from either of you.

I am just glad a solution was found. But then it comes down to: do I now have to check for which brand is installed (OS4 or Enhancer) and which version? Do I have to keep quoting it or not? Or change the string all together?

I feel I am getting the shaft since WEx brought the problem to the forum/public. It is not my fault, but to the average user who does not read this forum it is.

I have uploaded a "fixed" version to Aminet and OS4Depot, and my own "Check latest version". But the user still has to delete the old entry from Prefs->Notifications. It is not self healing. Another flaw in RinghioServer.

I just hope this issue doesn't influence people that WEx is defective, and they update and know how to fix Notifications.

Re: Workbench Explorer feedback

jabirulo came up with a solution for the Ringhio error. If the word 'to' is in the description you have to put the entire text in quotes. the FROM arg is not parsing correctly and stops at 'to' thinking it is the argument TO.

So, it is an issue with Ringhio, NOT Workbench Explorer.

Re: recent Ringhio Server error at start up

Using the extra quotes does work!

So then it is an error in the Ringhio server, not WEx.

Someone needs to pass this info along to the developers. I am surprised that no one else has used the word 'to' in their description.
