No, I don't use playlists. The audio format is AAC in those videos.

I couldn't find keys to control playback volume, I don't have numpad on the keyboard if that matters.

The sound gets distorted with some videos. That doesn't happen with other Mplayer's.

This version of Mplayer works really fast with those "fast" settings on an X1000.

Wingman Formula steering wheel and pedals works fine connected to USB port of an X1000 and through AmigaInput.

Hol* cow, I tested AE today and it didn't crash at all ! Using 16bit audio mode as well.

I have the same problem with Dandelion. But my X1000 doesn't lock up at least.

It looks like you are using Sound prefs from Enhancer package. Try the original AHI prefs which comes with AmigaOS if you have better luck with that.

Some people seems to tell now and then how bad Petro was "stoling goodies" and so on. He have visited here in Finland few times and every Finnish Amiga enthusiast usually thinks he's a good guy. I've met him in person myself three years ago. What I remember him saying that he tried to retire from Amiga business around mid 90s many times but everybody, retailers, executives and so on, kept calling him asking to fix this and fix that because nobody else was doing anything. So I guess that even if he wasn't in position to make business decisions but everybody kept asking him and looking like anybody else didn't know what to do or being incompetent he decided to help. Also with all those bankcrupties I guess there wasn't always clear knowledge of who owns what and who's responsible of what. Also he trying to retire maybe that's reason why people think he "disappeared" sometimes. But I'm speculating only.

He has written a book but I don't know if it was ever translated to English so far.

Of course one can copy ENVARC: contents back from a backup. Just make sure you'll make a new backup after updating the OS and any of the prefs utilities.

AmiUpdate is used to update software which is installed already and run once at least. AutoInstall scripts usually relies on the APPDIR: feature to find the path to the software. Such path doesn't exist if you haven't run the software ever before.

Amiga software usually comes with dedicated installers to use. If the software package/archive doesn't contain any installers then you can just copy it to anywhere and just use it from there. Large software packages are different matter which might be under GPL. People don't want to mix such packages together if they don't want to put their own software under GPL. So users have to install such packages separately. Also installers of Amiga software are not usually made to download any extra packages on your behalf.
