Re: USB Printers & OS4.1 on Samflex

@Troels

Hard to say, first you need to know if it really is a Dot4 printer as the info on the net usely do not say that.

I got hold of a HP psc 1110 printer that Windows claims to be a Dot4 but sadly the usb info says diffrently.

The good news is I have revived my dead A1 Harddisk where my old sources is, including my work on a dot4 driver.

I'm the Guy that has to fix the usbprinter.device for Hyperion.

I'm the one that last worked on it.. and Dot4 has NOT been added yet.

I help Hyperion out in my space time for free.. so I can not justify buying a printer just too add Dot4.. I allready has a usbprinter but its not a Dot4.

Most HP printers use the 1284.4 (DOT4) protocol, I think they invented it.

The problem is I do not have a dot4 printer so its hard for me to implement.

I have just added some Error requesters tonight so you know whats wrong.

But you can also look in t:usb.log and ther most likely will be an entry about 1284 not being supported.

@LiveForIt

Its very importent that you open the bsdsocket library in the same process that you need to call the recv/send/bind and so on commands.

Remember if they did the mozilla bounty they only get 25% so we are long past that point.

@Murakami

I don't know what 'Aucun' means for sure but I guess it mean no driver, but that is also okay as its only used when someone tryes to print.

Well it looks like it should find the printer when if you change the prefs setup to use usbprinter.device.

@Murakami

Many HP printers use the 1284.4 (Dot4) protocol, and oure USBPrinter driver do not support that, look in t:usb.log and see if there is an error about Dot4 in there.

@xenic

Do you some times have errors in the Boot picture? or maybe the Background of the Workbench screen is coruppted.

For I have the same problem that I can't compile without crashes, and I suspect the HD makes read errors. I havent tested with another HD so far.

@MagicSN

The cpu on the Sam440 is a little special... where the 'normal' powerpc cpus want 4 bytes alligned Floats, the sam wants 8 bytes.. The exec implements a execption handler that will catch this error and correct it.

I am not sure if it will only work for 4 bytes allign floats. but you can write to Thomas Frieden and ask I'm very sure he can tell you, I only write what my memory allows me to remeber, I dident followed this topic very closely then the Sam port was done.
