I have an A1 since years (earlybird). I still prefer to work with it, but you can't get it anymore.
I must say that SAM is a real charm, you could think of an A1200 against an A4000 ?
If you still have only a classic Amiga (even PPC) it's time to upgrade !

Unfortunately it still doesn'work. I get a bad GR from AmigaWriterPPC Layout.

I tried the new warposemu on sam, but AmigaWriter doesn't work, unfortunately.

once again : the problem is when I "save" the setting and then reboot. Then, C:IPrefs grims if I set SmallIcons and not if I don't set SmallIcons. It is a problem when IPrefs loads the prefs with the SmallIcons...

"use" works very well even if I boot from HD. Only problem when I reboot (soft or cold). I get a gream reaper from c:iprefs. If I click on "ignore" all goes well. But it shouldn't work that way, should it ?

aarrghhhh I didn't complain that I cannot save prefs to CD. I complain that if I set the small icons in the workbench "text mode" I get a grimreaper at reboot. I can't test from CD, because I can't save the prefs.

For me, I tried Euas_sdl and it works great. A1XE with OS4.1

no, what I said is that when I boot from the CD I cannot save the prefs and then reboot to see if it works.

And I didn't do a clean install. That's for sure the problem....

no because the GR appears at re-booting time. I have to save the prefs and then reboot. If I only do a "use", everything is ok

I did better : I copied the prefs from the CD in place of my prefs (I had a backup). The problem was still there. So samll icons are NO NO for me

If I check the small icons in the prefs/Workbench/text mode, I get a grim reaper from c:iprefs at startup. Unchecking it, everything is well

Yes, there is : it is the small outline square, the third on the left of the "fix" button.

You draw your rectangle on the image, then click on "crop" in the toolbox left of the window

Here my problem :

In Prefs/Workbench/text-mode, if I set the small icons to anything else than "disabled", I get a grim reaper from C:IPrefs everytime I boot the A1 (equal if cold or warm reboot). Hitting "ignore dsi" makes it work.
Setting back the small icons to "disabled" fixes the problem.
Am I alone with this ?

I add this : I have set a custom background colour. May be it has something to do with the strange grimming IPrefs ?

I whould like to be able to change the speed of the music without changing the frequency (change tempo).

Samplemanager has it as an unimplemented menu item...

Although it is not really complete, Pgs5.0 is very useable.
The real drawbacks I find are : a refresh bug (whenever you move the sliders inside the window the display is corrupted and you have to hit F10 in order to get back the real display) and it can't import jpg images.
For printing, it only does postscript, but I save pdf and print with amipdf.
I use it every day an do all my work with it.

I use PGS 5 pro and had a problem at startup under OS 4.1.
The pgs screen was set under the "screens prefs" as a clone of th WB, but it started to crash at startup with a total freeze of the whole computer, so that I had to press the reset button.

I had to remove from the list in the "screens" prefs and now it works (with an ugly oldstyle mui gui). It imports the graphics as before (the pgs 5 ppc version can't still import jpg, everything else works perfectly)
