Another option is to boot with no startup and do this:
set echo on execute s:startup-sequence
that will print every command to the shell so you can see where it's failing.

The vital changes needed are:
Make the editor fully drag'n'drog and mousewheel compatable.
To be able to move things from one dock to another.
To be able to defing which dock the temporary (tunenet, yem etc.) dockies use.
Being able to turn on or off individual docks with a checkbox in the main list.

I use PP a lot as well and that's really annoying indeed. I tried fiddling with the settings, but no matter what I do, it will insist on trying to close the WB and go in memory save mode. My guess is that it cannot handle the big numbers returned now for the CHIP memory because of the new (and great ) "unified" memory model. BTW: if you push the settings too much, it will eventually refuse to run complaining about missing blit libraries - the only way to roll back is editing by hand the prefs files or replacing them with working ones. saimo
Edit your startup-sequence, add "ADDCHIPRAM=2" to setpatch to add 2 mb of emulated chipram and get ppaint working.

try using the new mode tooltypes instead of the old p96 steeings file Quote:
I have a RADEON 9000 card, with the following monitor settings:
BOARDTYPE=Radeon CMPLENGTH=6 (CHIPTYPE=ATIRadeon.chip) (BORDERBLANK=Yes) (BIGSPRITE=Yes) SOFTSPRITE=No IGNOREMASK=Yes (DISPLAYCHAIN=Yes) FAKENATIVEMODES=No INTERRUPT=Yes VSYNCMIN=60 VSYNCMAX=85 HSYNCMIN=31500 HSYNCMAX=64000 SETTINGSFILE=ENVARC:Sys/P96.prefs
atm your mixing BOTH systems together: VSYNCMIN=60 VSYNCMAX=85 HSYNCMIN=31500 HSYNCMAX=64000 are the new system SETTINGSFILE=ENVARC:Sys/P96.prefs is the old system

1. AmigaAmp freezes the system at exit (will try a re-install
2. Final writer Gurus, nothing seems to help.
3. SnoopDos won't snoop (doesn't work).
4. Pagestream 4 won't load (library related, I expect to solve this today).
5. Digita Organiser doesn't load.
All in all just minor irritations, some which I expect will get sorted. On the plus side the system is fast and stable put that together with MPlayer, DvPlayer and Ibrowse 2.4 and this OS is going places.
ace
1. no idea. 2. finalwriter does not work with newmem, seems digita relied on an 'undocumented feature' 3. correct, iirc a new version is being worked on. 4. works fine here. 5. again works fine here, probably libs or fonts causing that.

Moving windows is slower.
PPaint opens a requester saying 'Attention: Memory Save Mode'
Working with PPaint in low resolutions (320x240/320x256) and few colors (anything less than 256) doesn't work, as the BG color is always set wrong, it's purple when it should be black.
When working with low resolutions in PPaint and zoom mode, the pixel you are drawing with moves around a little depending on where you point at the screen, it's not in the center of the marker as it should be.
Moving windows: change to simple refresh or 16bit ppaint: edit your startup-sequence and add 'ADDCHIPRAM=4' for 4mb of emulated chipram ppaint2: iirc that's always been like that.

@EVERYONE READ the readme file it's what it's there for. Quote: For the impatient: 1) MAKE A BACKUP! This CD does not support upgrading your system, you need to reinstall. Make a backup of all your files. There is a reason for this (many actually), too much stuff has changed to allow an update, if you still wantto update prepare for a borked install with obsolete files, duplicate programs with the old ones no longer working etc.

IBrowse 2.4 Hint No.1
If you have updated or copied your old prefs files over then go into prefs/gui/fab menus, at the bottom is a 'view link in new inactive browser' option, add that to your fab menus and you can load pages in the background.

ok, checked some docs...
If you have a usb keyboard try this:
setenv ENV:usb/hid.keyboard/numlockoff save 1
to disable it, use 0 to enable it
