Agree, would be usefull to have a version number on the title window,
Not in the window title, but in the screen title the version number is displayed already.

or almost an about window with more informations
You can open a new window instead, the initial content includes the version number as well.

We have DvPlayer, and MPlayer, so OS4 should be fast enough.
With fast codecs with low compression an AmigaOne and a SAM440 may be fast enough for decoding and displaying full screen videos, but they are way too slow for encoding full screen videos in real time. Writing the uncompressed images to HD and encoding a video later isn't possible either, for a 32 bit 1280x1024 60 Hz screen mode that would require writing 300 MB/s to the HD. You can't even read the data from the gfx card RAM that fast ...

Sorry to bump this thread, but I'd like to know if OWB is using AmiSSL for its SSL transactions or if it's using a builtin SSL version ?
Builtin SSL.

Quote:
I ask it because I have found that OWB is unable to login into any https url I've come to, whereas AWeb is fine accesing them (so AmiSSL works fine), in fact I even searched on google an HTTPS test page and tried to load it in OWB without success (so this should not be a problem specific to my bank's website which is bytheway Cr?dit Mutuel at https://www.creditmutuel.fr/cmlaco/fr/) the page starts to load and then nothing comes, the text load jauge at the bottom right stays on 0 ?
The page is working here. If you used AmiUpdate for updating OWB and skipped some versions it could be that Resources/curl-ca-bundle.crt in the OWB directory is missing, copy it from DEVS: to the OWB Resources directory.

It's a bug in OWB 3.3 which will be fixed in the next version.

Ok, I see. What about shift-click on the link to copy the url to the clipboard?
Most modern browsers have it.
For the next version of OWB I'm implementing the context menus for AmigaOS 4.x. Although some of the menu items are useless since they don't work in the AmigaOS 4.x port of OWB yet, for example copying images to the clipboard, saving images, downloading links, the sub menus for spell checking in input forms, etc., they include for example "Copy Link Location" which I've added in the AmigaOS 4.x clipboard implementation of OWB now as well.

Just a curiosity, how is the problem with the shared version ?
If I'd use shared objects again the AmigaOS 4.0 users would complain again that they can't use current versions of OWB any more ...
(There is no libcairo.so for AmigaOS 4.0, only the one included in AmigaOS 4.1.)

Quote:
This static OWB seems a little bigger as bin,
It's not larger, for versions using shared objects you have to add the size of all shared objects used.

Quote:
maybe we need a new reworked version shared system from Hyperion ?
I never had any problems with the shared object versions of OWB and couldn't reproduce any of the problems very few users had with them.

Any idea?
Probably related to the cookie changes as well, with version 3.3, in which I removed the 3.2 cookie changes again, both seem to work.

What do I need to update to version 3.2?
What additional files included on the OS4 Depot page am I gonna need to download?
It doesn't need any additional files. If you have AISS, the Extended default mouse pointer types or the core fonts installed they are used by OWB, but it's all optional.

When updating from such an old version it's better to download the complete archive from os4depot.net instead of using AmiUpdate, for example curl-ca-bundle.crt has to be in Resources in the OWB directory now instead of DEVS: like in old versions.

Actually the cookie fix seems to have broken something else. I didn't have problems logging into Gmail with all the other OWB versions, but with this one it says cookies are disabled and that I have to enable them.

It's also not possible to log into Yahoo! Mail.
I've built a new version with the cookie changes removed again and I'm currently uploading it.

Tried again, oppened up Media Toolbox again to check that everything was as I'd set it up, but this time, for whatever reason, I opened it up in Expert mode. I noticed that there is no Disk Init installed. Asked it to install, it asks me where the file is.
The "Drive Initialization code" was only required for a few classic Amiga controllers which used it for parts of their firmware, on an AmigaOne and SAM only the "AmigaOne boot code (SLB)" is required.

You wrote "the space used by the data on this new partition seems to indicate that in fact everything has been recovered. it is alltogether about 1.3gb.". Does that mean there are about 1.3 GB data in the root dir, and there wasn't much in sub directories?

You can try again with the mode set to "All/Deep" in the 3rd tab, usually that way you get much worse results but in a few cases, especially very destroyed partitions, it works better, and in your case it can't get much worse. If that doesn't help either too much data on the partition is destroyed and recovering more from it isn't possible.

However if you select a state and proceed to the next screen, you get the cookie requester I mentioned in my earlier post. You can select a state in the page at the URL I listed, proceed to the next page and try entering a userID (any text) and you will see the Cookies disabled requester.
It tries to access the Cookies with JavaScript which doesn't work in the AmigaOS 4.x port of OWB Galekid (I didn't check yet if it works with the SDL or GTK version of OWB Galekid, but probably not).

Why not quick&dirty workaroud using "wget"?
It would require the same ugly hack as in OWB Blastoise: Aborting the already running download and starting it again. It doesn't make any difference at all if an external tool like wget is used or it's done in OWB itself like in OWB Blastoise.
It would probably be as easy as in OWB Blastoise, but like in OWB Blastoise it couldn't work with all sites, for example not on sites only allowing a single download per IP, and not on sites needing cookies for downloads.

If most OWB users prefer such unusable hacks instead of having to wait a few months for the correct download implementation it's no problem at all, it's much less work than implementing it correctly, and I'll do it that way instead ... But I wont implement downloads twice, it would stay that way and I'll never implement downloads correcly in OWB, at least not in the next 5 years, but implement other missing features instead.

I had high hopes for accessing my bank accounts with OWB but it doesn't work either. None of the Amiga browsers work correctly with my bank. OWB fails to display the drop-down menu for the "State" input at: http://www.sovereignbank.com/personal ... ils/net_banking_logon.asp
Currently a popup menu is only supported in the AmigaOS 4.x port of OWB for up to 25 entries, if it gets too large popupmenu.class crashes and I have to implement something else for large <select> menus. Currently you have to use the general OWB method for them: Click 2 or 3 times into it, use the cursor up and down keys for selecting the entry, and on pages where there is no separate submit button return to sent it.

As far as downloading goes, I would like to suggest something like popupmenu.library with a menu that has items for D/L files, images and copying URLs like IBrowse.
Before adding anything like that I first have to implement support for donwloads in OWB, which will probably take some months.

sorry to say, even partition magic under os4 with sfs partition as a target had the same effect. some 1.3 gig data are being recovered, of which only that in the root directory are accessible. various attempts of using protect command to unlock the directories didnt succeed.
What error exactely do you get when you try to access the directories, for example with "List directory" or "CD directory" in a shell?

no, since the system assumes only the files in the root are present protect with whatsoever arguments also applies only to them. sigh.
If it's a FFS2 partition, nothing else prevents accessing directories without "r" bit set, try
protect #?+r
protect #?/#? +r
protect #?/#?/#? +r
protect #?/#?/#?/#? +r
...
instead. Maybe the "e" bit has to be set instead, or both have to be set, I don't know what exactly FFS2 uses.
