Re: System freeze when playing video files

@smf
@Kas1e

Thankyou both, it was the CMI sound card playing up.

It is looking like a driver issue if this has happened before with Kas1e. Im sure I have an old soundblaster lying around that I can swap in.

Go here if you want to try out an updated listbrowser.class to see if it fixes your issue.

System freeze when playing video files
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Im getting a full system freeze when playing video files and skipping around. No slow down, or frame skipping just a full system lock and I have no idea whats failing.

I have tried this with the Emotion player (demo and full version) and a few different Mplayers on os4depot.

Can someone see if they can replicate this? Its happening on the following file by moving the search bar towards the end of the file after it has started playing.

click here

It doesnt help that as its freezing im not getting any logs.

X5000
OS4.1up2+hotfix
Radeon 270 2Gb

I have Emotion v1.9 already installed, and AmiUpdate is still suggesting the v1.9 update to me due to the date of the remote file on the server being 01/01/1978 instead of 29/12/2020.

@Entwickler-x can you reupload the update file with the correct file date please

I had lots of issues that were all down to the battery not fitting properly. All i can suggest is keep moving it around until it clicks into place and make sure it is not backwards.

No lockups over here what so ever except if I disable GUI effects then total freeze of my X5000.

Do you have an fresh install or installed over old X5000 install?

What version of Updater are you using? I am having no issues on my X5000 with Updater v53.70 with a fresh install of os4.1FE upd2 + all latest public enhancer files.

The only way I got a crash when turning compositing effects off was for an app that was already running in Amidock. Never a full system freeze.

@NinjaCyborg

Download the zip file from the Amiupdate website to get the latest version and install it over the existing version you have.

I think that there may be missing/old files left over when using OS4.1FE and updating Amiupdate via itself.

Re: OS4 UPDAAAATEE !!! BANANA !!

Getting a hard freeze when playing video files on fresh Update 2 install with only the X5000 ethernet driver and RadeonHD driver added. Does not produce any crash logs on debug kernel and debug RadeonHD driver via serial. The whole system just freezes and I have to restart.

Can someone test a video file in the Emotion player demo from os4depot, press lots of buttons and randomly skip around the video and see if they get the same?

X5000 with Radeon R270

@Sbaitso

If it really annoys you then looking at the info for the MUI update in Amiupdate will tell you which local file it is checking against the database. You can then edit the date in this local file to stop it popping up.

@kas1e

Just what we needed - so the issue was the naming scheme *and* the order
Quote:

Enabled PS_ON

- vcc_cpld: 3.34
- vdd_3v3_xorro: 3.33 (what docs call XenaXorroA)
(no XenaXorroB here - docs were incorrect)
- vdd_1v0_idt: 1.01
- vdd_1v0_xorro: 1.00 (XenaXorroB 1v here but the docs call it Xena)
- vdd_3v3: 3.35
- vdd_2v5: 2.49
- vdd_1v2_eth: 1.21
- vdd_pl: 1.05
- vdd_ca: 1.10
- vdd_cb: 1.10
- vdd_ddr3_io: 1.50
- vdd_xvdd_fl: 1.83

Glad you had the cable to go straight to the source for the answers

@kas1e

I think there is no XenaXorroA and no XenaXorroB, but there is 1 XenaXorro entry. I can see no reason why 2 different voltages go to only 1 Xorro slot, and its this reason why I do not think that the Xena line is the problem. Using your comment as a guide, I would say it looks like this;

CPLD 3350mV
XenaXorroA 3330mV
XenaXorroB NO ! DO NOT USE! Shift then all values down!
PCIe 1000mV
Xena 1000mV
3,3V Schiene 3330mV
2,5V Schiene 2490mV
Ethernet 1200mV
Platform 1030mV
CoreA 1090mV
CoreB 1090mV
DDR3 1490mV
Serdes 1810mV

To properly get this confirmed we need someone with access to the original tech docs the TRM was created from to confirm if there are meant to be 12 sets of data, and if that's true then they need to point out which of the current 13 headings in the TRM is wrong.

Please see post #20 for what I believe is the issue you have with the incorrect voltage data.

Sorry, I was not clear - I meant that I can move my mouse in all directions in the boot menu which is now easier to get to due to setting bootticks to 100

@derfs

looks like the values are out of alignment e.g.

CPLD 3340mV should be XenaXorro A3340mV

@Kas1e - maybe the missing bits are from the other end than what you originally thought?

*edit*

Actually I believe it may just be a simple case of the TRM being wrong.

After looking through the rest of the document for details on the xorro slot I have found references to it being 3.3V and not 1.0V, so it could be a simple case of copy and paste gone mad and the order is actually

1. CPLD3.3V
2. Xena
/Xorro 3.3V
3. PCIe
switch, 1.0V
4. Xena 1.0V
5. 3.3V
6. 2.5V
7. Ethernet 1.2V
8. Platform
1.0V
9. Core A
1.0V for P3041 1.1V for P50201.1V-1.2V for P5040
10. Core B
1.0V for P3041 1.1V for P50201.1V-1.2V for P5040
11. DDR3 IO
1.5V
12. Serdes
1.8V

What do you think?

Re: X5000 No Longer Booting OS4!

Not too shy to talk

In my opinion as someone who has done a lot of troubleshooting on a x5000 the easiest thing to do is unplug the hard drives, and just try booting from the boot cd. If you have a boot usb then unplug the dvd drive as well as the HD's and try booting from that. this will get rid of any issues where the system is trying to boot off of the wrong drive.
