I agree. But to make a fair comparison, the ownership and management of MorphOS is not tied to an unpredictably company that has based its business model on lawsuits and legal threats.

Code ownership, on the other hand, is related to people who don't always have to be predictable. As far as I know in MOS the ownership of every piece of code is owned by its author.

People have a short memory and flatter MOS today, but I remember that until recently, MOS had not had an update for over 1000 days, people were leaving the system and there were opinions that it was already dead. And the reason for the stagnation was that one of the developers quit and took his code. It took 3 years for MOSTeam to deal with it.

Summing up, 5 years ago AmigaOS 4 was lucky and MOS was unlucky with the ownership of the code. Today, MOS is lucky and AmigaOS 4 is unlucky, but no one knows whether an offended programmer will leave MOSTeam tomorrow, and Hyperion will finally deal with the licenses and the sun will shine for us.

This is of course not true, especially with regard to Olaf, who is responsible for communication with AmigaOS 4 beta testers in terms of information about new beta files, as well as for other things.

Hello,
I am glad you came back. I hope to see new versions of your awesome emulators soon.

The X1000 network card driver has never gone beyond the betatest phase, so if you are not an AmigaOS 4 beta tester you cannot use it.

I have never had problems with an HDMI grabber (except for audio that is not supported by Amiga drivers), whether using an HDMI - HDMI or DVI - HDMI cable.

Perhaps the problem is old driver versions? The latest ones can be found in Enhancer Software Plus Edition.

The latest graphics cards are Polaris RX, but they do not work on the X1000 (CFE firmware problem). I use R9 270 myself, but you will not buy it today in the retail market, only on the secondary market as used. The only new cards in this family are R7 250.

I recently died a hard disk in my Amiga. Unfortunately, I also lost your version of Mplayer, which supports Polaris cards. The link on sendspace is already expired.

Can you share this version again or just upload the upgrade to OS4Depot?

DOSBox works OK. I didn't notice any problems with CD support or rendering.

BTW! I could use another interesting emulators. You may have thought about compiling DeSmuME? On OS4Depot there is a very old and not very useful version. It seems that it would be possible to compile a newer one, especially since there are Mac PPC sources on the project page.

It is not true that no one wants to pay for the browser. See, even archaic IBrowse is commercial. Earlier, no one gave us anything for free, the Timberwolf and Odyssey donated 7,000 euros. Only the old OWB and Netsurf are actually free.

I do not know what are the moods among amigos in the world, but discussing with amigos in Poland we have long come to the conclusion that an internet browser is such a very important program that it is worth paying for it. One could pay one bigger amount on start and then some smaller for upgrades, so as to provide constant motivation for the author to develop further.

@kas1e

The sound works if I mount HoM&M 2 as one ISO no matter if the letter D or E and even as F. If I mount more ISO images, e.g. HoM&M I and HoM&M II, the sound works if HoM&M II is mounted first, i.e. D. If I mount it as a second image, i.e. Hom & M I is as D and HM&M 2 on E, then the sound does not work. The conclusion is that DOSBox always tries to search for music with the highest letter to which any ISO image is assigned.

The old version of Corto DOSBox works fine on my X5000.

However, I noticed that your JIT versions behave slightly differently on X5000 040 than on X1000. In Hom & M II (it is possible that in other games, but I did not play long anything else to check it) once every 20-30 minutes everything stops and hangs. It looks like the game is freezing, but interestingly, after a few seconds everything is back to normal and you can keep playing. I did not notice such breaks when playing X1000, while on X5000 040 it happens 2-3 times an hour.

Tried with your config of DOSBox, with your .ins, with your heroes.cfg, and it still works, damn :( will do more tests.
For it always reproducable ? 100% the same result all the time ? And you 100% use exactly that archive:

http://kas1e.mikendezign.com/aos4/dosbox/DOSBox_r3.lha
?

Plz double-triple check. "version" on that new binary should say "DOSBox r4293 (20.11.2019), build date (8.2.2020)".

Of course. After all, the older version did not allow to mount the image of the OGG fies. I wrote about it before.

Today I did a lot of tests and finally identified where the problem was.
In the Dosbox.conf file I had the image HoM&M 1 as disk D, and then HoM&M II as disk E.

When I turned off the D disk with the HoM&M I, the music in HoM&M II suddenly started playing
#imgmount d  "emulacja:dosbox/pecet/HoMMeng/homm1.iso" -t cdrom
imgmount e  "multimedia:dosbox/pecet/HoMM2g/homm2.ins" -t iso -fs iso

The GOG version is copied to the HoM & M II catalog, the Music subdirectory, where there are music tracks in OGG. It also copies some other things, such as the homm2.gog file (which is actually an ISO image) and homm2.ins.

I copied the entire installation of the game from the computer to the Amiga. I changed the name homm.gog to homm.iso. I added to dosbox.conf:

imgmount d ".. \ homm2.iso" -t iso -fs iso

the game works but only supports MIDI.

Once again I analyzed the configuration of the GOG game in the PC version and found an entry there

imgmount d ".. \ homm2.ins" -t iso -fs iso

this INS file contains a list of music tracks:

BINARY "homm2.gog" FILE
TRACK 01 MODE1 / 2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
MP3 "music \ homm2_01.ogg" FILE
AUDIO PATH 02
INDEX 01 00:00:00
MP3 "music \ homm2_02.ogg" FILE
TRACK 03 AUDIO
INDEX 01 00:00:00
"Music \ homm2_03.ogg" MP3 FILE

however, when I changed the entry on the PC, I received the message:
Resized Image

Changing the file extension from INS to CUE also did not help. Editing the ins Binary file "homm2.gog" to ISO, BIN associated with changing the ISO image extension did not help either.

Ogg music tracks do not work. In Hom & M II Gold from GOG, I only have MIDI sound. Under DOSBox on a PC, an opera CD is played.

Sorry, I'm withdrawing from the last coment. There are no major differences between cycles max and auto. I was wrong because I accidentally launched the previous -O3 compilation, and this one is always faster and consumes more CPU power onQuake timedemo, compared to the last version.

EDIT: oh yeah, that was it. Patched to 1.06 verios and fps there.

So on x5000/020 have 17 fps by default. With x5000/050 it probabaly around 21-22. On morphzone zukow made a jit version for morphos, and on his G5 which is 2.3ghz he have 22FPS. So if x5000/020 give 17fps with 2ghz cpu, then safely to assume that x5000/040 with 2.2 will give around 20-22 as well.

EDIT2: Managed to get 18fps on my x5k in q1 when removing all crap i load when system starts.

I noticed that cycles=auto gives better results than cycles = max. On X1000 cycles=auto, I have 11.6 fps on Quake and the CPU time in timedemo is in the range 87% - 95%. In the case of cycles = max, I have 70% - 85% CPU usage and 9.7fps result.

Can't reproduce your issue with non-centering window. I have set scallers to none, set fullscreen to true, and fullscreen size to 1920x1080, and when i run dos-box its in center, as well as when run games in some 320x240 it also in center.

Maybe some specific mode cause that ? Or maybe some other settings has been changed in your config?

The problem is the fullresolution option. I set "fullresolution = original". Effect screen 640x480 with non-centered lo-res screen. However, when I set "fullresolution = 640x480", the lo-res screen is already centered.
