@LiveForIt
A quit button would be most helpful. Good luck with your coding.

@LiveForIt

I would like to help but I couldn't get much to work at all from the last version for OS4. It boots speedily and OS works but I couldn't find any software to run.

@ChrisH

I have just played around with the latest version and I am impressed. You have done some great work here. You may have seen my posts regarding glUAE which Saimo has done such a great job on, I don't see these programs in competion but as mutually benificial in bringing a good if not great E-UAE experience to OS4, on whatever the HW platform.

I have just played some HD installed games which I had on my A1XE (which had a pretty good E-UAE performance, I now run a SAM), the results have been very good especially if I tweak the uaerc file.

I am using the latest E-UAE with the gui which pops up after double clicking on the HD installed game so it is very easy to tweak some things without saving or saving if I want to.

Under 0.8.29 "sound_latency= (default 100)" replaced "sound_max_buffer=8192" I think sound emulation is one of the main problems on any current AOS4x platform. I can only speak for SAM Flex 800 but setting the latency to around 114 works very well, some tweaking may be required for different games but all in all a big improvement than the older buffer method. Other HW will vary but results should improve. Please note this does not work on the 08.28 or below versions.

For experienced users you can also change the gfx_frameskip= config this may help a little as well.

Keep up the great work, we are finally getting some very nice E-UAE abilities on our own platform.

@corto

OK. With CPUwatcher the release before yours is:

Boot only to DOS 47-48%
Under load (Centurion) CPU 100%

Your version
Boot only to DOS 47-50% but mainly the same 47-48%
Under load (Centurion) CPU 100%

Both reads for under load are taken at gameplay not Intros.

Hope this helps.

Give glUAE a go

We all know that classic emulation on current Amiga hw can be problematic.That is especially true with the more modest specs of the SAM series. I have been playing around extensively with glUAE and urge everyone to give it a go.

I won't focus on the other available programs runadf and RunInUAE, I also use these.

glUAE is a unique concept where the author has tried to take the hard work out of configuration. The suggested screenmodes significantly enhance performance, in addition the Helpers written by Saimo download all the requirements, there are several install options including adf and WHDload.

glUAE is free and the indivisual Helpers are available for purchase at a very very modest price. Given the effort put in I highly recommend this to all.

All of a sudden I have a very enjoyable UAE experience on my SAM. For instance I have been playing Deluxe Galaga and Tower Assault with my game pad all with excellent speed and very good sound.

In playing around with glUAE lately I have uncovered a couple of issues with some UAE versions. The SAM optomised will not support AmigaInput, .28 will not support the sound_latency option which greatly improves sound quality.

Please PM me if you are interested or have some questions on using glUAE.

My big thanks to Saimo for his incredible work on glUAE and Helpers.

@AmigaSociety
I have 4 brothers. two of us are Amigans through and through the other two not (Mum dropped them on their heads when they were small). My other Amigan brother (somewhat inactive) is minding an A1000 for another brother who doesn't know, appreciate or care about it's pedigree.

Now here is my problem, how do I get hold of it!! -:)

Welcome to our small community, it is fun to see newbies, especially Atarians who must be laughing at the antics of this community over the past decade.
Given the fact no-one has given you crap about that just shows how mature we have become.-:)

Well I guees we are just lucky and happy to still be here let alone attract wonderful new users like yourself.

Glad to have you aboard.

@tommysammy

Removing the config file did not work this time. I copied Amigainput and it's pref settings from my 4.1 backup and everything works fine again. Looks like AI has some issues with the updated version. Make sure you back your current AI up before copying the older version just in case you need in future.

Works great with XMAME, GNGEO, WARPSNES and soon EUAE (I hope).

ADF games work fine with double click. Folks should check they don't have their adf files set up for runadf.

No luck with HD installs.

@ChrisH

Yes it used to work and your earlier version also worked. I found the missing file libz.so.1 in my backup partition (OS4.1). I run 4.1u1 on SAM Flex 800 with 1gb ram radeon 9250.

I am getting further. Most HD isntalled games I have tried open the cli screen but hangs there (although I can input @ the prompt >.

Will try some adf games now. I am running e-uae 28 as you have previously suggested.

Installed fine but E-UAE will not run with the message:

libz.so is installed in sobjs drawer on my system partition.

Beautiful. Works a treat.

Thanks

PS I am pretty sure the l2cr=8x0000000 was a setting for old A1 kernels to run the L2 cache. Not needed with later kernels or on the SAM

Oh. Thanks but even for experienced Linux/SAM A1 users this is a little scary. I reverted to the old way with Parthenope, slow true but there were no other directions issued.

I may try over the weekend. Hope it works.

@PEB
I had the same problem. I didn't want to re-dirty my MUI or Libs so I reinstalled but first reinstall these;

rxmui and rmh archives available at

http://alfie.altervista.org/rxmui/index.html

All should work well after that. First delete or rename your old Amipodder directory otherwise it will fail to install.

Sorry but the old problem with external usb drives is still present. I installed my wd passport 320gb drive which I used on my Mac Mini with MOS and OS4 wiped it. Cleaned everything off and left garbage. I had hoped this would have been fixed. Good news is smaller usb pendrives all seem to be recognised, including my 16gb one.. That is cools. Well done guys a great step forward with this release.

@BillE

In a shell type lha x (filename) destination.

It will skip over the erronous material. This worked for me. I didn't see the message about not using Ibrowse i was just too keen. Stick with it as it is worth it.
