Re: PPaint 7.3b crashes, please where is support (help)?

@hexaae

I'm experiencing a little issue too. When I select the smallest brush the cross pointer or rather the brush is misplaced and paints at about 20 pixels to the right and 6-7 pixels below.
Does the same happen on your system?

I'm using an A1200 Blizzard IV 030/FPU 64 MB RAM and AmigaOS 3.9 with all BoingBags. But it does the same on a vanilla OS 3.1 on the same machine.

@amigakit

Will other Software updates, like for example a supposed PPaint 68k update become available through Updater too?
It's a real pity PPaint 7.3b 68k is not working properly on 68k Amigas..

PPaint 7.3b Pixel Brush issue
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

I finally gave PPaint 7.3b Classic a shot on my A1200 machines and there is an issue with the smallest brush (1 pixel). It does not matter if I select the square, the round or any other shape, the stroke is misplaces to the right by approximately 50 pixel.

So it is not possible to draw. This happens on both A1200 Blizzard IV 030/FPU and A1200 ACA 1230.

AmigaOS 3.9 BoingBag2 and on a 2nd partition AmigaOS3.9 BoingBag4.

On the A1-XE PPaint 7.3b Classic does not show this issue.

@BillE

There is a version of TestDisk for macOS too.
IIRC there was one for Linux PPC too, so it should work on the X1000. I'm fairly sure I had it installed on Ubuntu 12..

@walkero

Once something similar happened to me too. It was a new SD card, and I could not format it. I managed with Linux on the AmigaOne, but some time later it had write errors and the issue reappeared. I could not format on a PC either. The only way was with the official SD card tool from sdcard.org (on a mac) after using that I could format on Amiga too. But eventually I found out the SDcard was defective as it took ages to write files to it.

So maybe try with Linux on the A1

Done.
Waiting for the new Radeon driver, in the hope it will support Radeon RX-460 dual (fan)
For example like this one

Try downloading http://curl.haxx.se/ca/cacert.pem , renaming it to curl-ca-bundle.crt , and then replacing the file in OWB's resources folder.

OWB's file is horribly out of date (2 years old!) and it should really have been updated in the OWB archive itself.

Thanks Chris, I could not remember the link and the bookmark. And Google was not my friend today..
but my fault, I searched for curl_ca_bundle..

@mr2

I am not aware of any power connector for a fan on the motherboard. I was looking for the same info a few years back.
You might want to contact a-cube, they know for sure.

I endet up using connecting a fan-speed controller to a free molex connector.

@nubechecorre

you can tell RunInUAE which UAE executable it should use. IIRC you can choose the executable from one of the menus. From Memory it should be "Shared Settings/EUAE executable"
Or have a look in ENVARC: for RunInUAE-Path..

@Jack

Instead of "dd" You can create also create a copy of your HDD using winuae.
It has the advantage of being a harddisk file which can be used directly in UAE,
FS-UAE so you can try to recover the files with DiskSalv.
VmWare or VirtualBox do host WinUAE very well on macOS or Linux.

I'm not sure anymore If I used "DiskDrill" or "remo Recover".
I do remember both worked reliably.. There should be downloadable test versions
on their respective websites.

Edit: it was DiskDrill

@Jack

Bad story.

If you want to do it as much as possible in an amiga-ish environment, try with AmigaForever (the FAQs and Guides for the whole package are very good) or with WinUAE.

First thing I would do is to create an (dd) image of the entire HD.

Then you might then try to recover the files (in WinUAE or AF) from _a_copy_ of the HD image using DiskSalv or some other Tool within the emulation. You can try all sorts of things on the copy of the image without fear of loosing data.
(hash test the copy if you feel the need to)

here a starting point:
https://www.amigaforever.com/kb/15-113

Besides that, I once recovered files using RAW mode with a recovery tool on macOS. Even if it did not understand the filesystem I found the data I was looking for.

Good luck!

@orgin

I don't know who that is, but how does the IP help anyway? AFAIK in italy Vodafone uses dynamic IP allocation for private entities, so one just has to hit the "reconnect" button of the router (if there is one) or briefly cycle the power to get a totally different IP..

couldn't a password be made as a requirement to upload a file?

@daveyw

Maybe these manufacturers do not comply to the HID standards?
I found a couple of other mice which do the same (sadly I had not kept a note of model numbers), but I experienced it only
in Early Boot. However it seems something differs between the early boot usb driver and the full os4.

@328gts

hi, can I also post some hardware which is not working?

IMHO a list of "USB devices that do NOT work with OS4.1 FE" could be handy too.

And am I still in time to wish everyone here a Happy new year?!

Edit: I should have read the entire first post.. anyway

Partially working:

- Zalman ZM-M520W(L) in "Early boot Menu" the mouse pointer only moves _vertically_. After OS4.1FE is completely booted it works fine.
- Cherry XERO Corded MC-3000 in "Early boot Menu" the mouse pointer only moves _horizontally_. After OS4.1FE is completely booted it works fine.
- StarTech SV431DVIUDDM AmigaONE X1000 hangs at UBoot if the KVM is connected to the "Keyboard" USB-port. ONLY AFFECTS X1000!
- ATEN CS682 AmigaONE X1000 sporadically hangs at UBoot if the KVM is connected to the "Keyboard" USB-port. ONLY AFFECTS X1000!
- Belkin SOHO KVM switch AmigaONE X1000 hangs at UBoot if the KVM is connected to the "Keyboard" USB-port. ONLY AFFECTS X1000!

Working
- ATEN CS22U KVM switch. No issues found
- Wintech SAC-50/DMI-55 USB SATA IDE converter
- SpeedLink Competition Pro Joystick USB
- Epson Stylus Color 760 Needs TurboPrint 7.60 (available for purchase January 2018 at www.zedonet.com. online shop for irseesoft.de). Parallel Port AmigaONE-XE with TurboPrint 7.10)
- Digisol 4.1 USB card reader

Edit 2: Tested with AmigaONE-XE, Sam440, AmigaONE-X1000 and AmigaONE-X5000
