@Hans

On the freevec.org page services price :

"My rate is 30,00 EUR/hour +VAT 23% (where applicable). For a quote, please contact me at.."
Since the guy is experienced I suppose that he work faster so price should be lower. A bounty might be worth it in the end.

Since X86 SIMD version is optimized wouldn't it be possible to write a tool that convert X86 SIMD to Altivec/Velocity engine code so no need to write specific code for PPC. It maybe not optimal but maybe better than stuff written by non expert.

edit : just googled after my post see :
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/com ... rPC%20AltiVec%20migration

edit2
Since the XBOX360 and Gamecube/WII/WIU do have PPC processors I wouldn't be surprised (since some have been hacked) that their multimedia player (Xmplayer? others?) are optimzed and maybe uses altivec.
Expert on the field are console or PPC Mac programmers. (maybe some ppc games where the source code has been released do have such player)

"I can only say that I'm very much looking forward to this. While I can't use this for debugging graphics drivers, it will be great to be able to debug applications without riddling it with temporary print statements."

I suppose that something like SofIce for OS4 would help?
Too bad there's no low level debugger like in Amiga Classic that could track anything.

@rwo

Before merging P96 into other libs making it native, did you think about it's design first? Meaning is the P96 was the best way to implement RTG or is it just a first step for compatibility with a "plan" to improve RTG later?

Would love to know more about :
-New Intuition features
-New Workbench features
-Much improved DOS
-New unified graphics library with RTG support which allows for (current and future) very substantial general and platform specific performance optimizations e.g. through the use of on-chip DMA engines (present on recently released hardware going back to the Sam440)
-Native GDB Debugger AmigaOS4
-What are the updates done at wiki.amigaos.net
-What are the new supported GFX board

Just read that tweet from a Sony employee being "attacked" on tweeter, it remember me that Fez dev canceled Fez II and left the game industry...

I though that programming was more about algorithms than languages and APIs.

I'm glad you wrote about portability how about an OS X port :)

Congrats.
Out of curiosity what does Wouter Van Oortmerssen thinks about PortablE?

@ChrisH
Well since the monitor is above some kind of Pizza box I spot in a post above yours an A1000 but as resolution when zooming is not quite good I guessed wrong.

Is this an A1000 drawing near the CPU?
As there's a CPU fan connector I suppose that passive cooling is out of question, right?

There's also a bug in this board version it's written "MAC ADRESS" it should be "Amiga ADRESS" :)

I suppose that this has been already found :
41:2D:45:4F:4E : A-EON
43:59:52:55:53:2B : CYRUS+

Thanks but when you access libraries you'll still need all those interfaces naming right?

Actually I was thinking about C but PortablE is an interesting option. I miss an OS X port though :)

Compiling OS4 sources to target OS3

Hi
Is it possible to write OS4 programs who do not rely on specifcs features and build a 68k exécutable for AOS3?
So later I could target OS4 without modifying the code. (Not interested in ifdef stuff)

Thanks
