Re: RadeonRX driver and RX590 GPU on X1000

@Raziel @DDNI

I very much want to get the CFE update completed.

You may recall that in 2012, A-EON Technology Ltd paid a Hyperion contractor for the last CFE update to fix support for the Voodoo graphics cards and a few minor issues. This was back in the days before A-EON operated it's own Amiga Developer Team server. These days all A-EON source code is held in A-EON controlled server repositories without relying on any third parties (lesson learned!).

When then RX compatiblity issue was first identified I asked for the source code to be returned and updated and was told that the source code was lost. It later transpired that the source code was not actually lost despite what I was told at the time. All along the former Hyperion management had the source code and after some persuasion handed it over to the ExecSG team, not A-EON.

So the next step is for A-EON to retrieve the source to the Amiga Developer server and complete the work within the Amiga Developer Team.

Apologies for the delay to this. The importance on controlling your own code base has been highlighted with this situation.

There is no need to be rude to RWO. He designed and developed this library himself so can decide what he wishes to do with it going forward.

@rjd324

The RadeonHD.chip driver that is supplied on the OS4.1 CD is a demo "Lite" version. It is limited to 1024x768, no compositing and does not support Southern Islands or any RadeonHD later.

You should make sure you install the Enhancer Software RadeonHD which is the full version.

Thanks

if i remember right it comes from Enhancer. There was some attempt to make an auto-library-generator or something of that sort (do not remember correctly that) but for some years I heard nothing about it.

LDCK is the Library and Device Construction Kit.

It was created as an alternative to IDTools - which rather unhelpfully and stealthly pastes "Copyright Hyperion" notices over every text file it creates.

Quote:
Not sure if anyone ever uses it more than just for tests.

We use it to create our libraries and devices. The Video Acceleration Library was the most recent project to be created with LDCK.

I remember Matthew put some SDK for enhancer classes somewhere on some page where you need to register to download it.

SDK is in the Enhancer Software Core (free of charge). The most up to date SDK is found in the latest Enhancer Software V2.1 download, released in October. Core is due an update soon to bring SDK to same level as the SDK in V2.1

@Skateman

Work is progressing well on further support for RadeonHD (SI). It is part of the forthcoming Enhancer Software Release V54. It’s quite a big project and will be the most ambitious release so far. As we did with Enhancer Software V2, the drivers maybe released in advance and provide a discount off the final Release V54.

@mufa

Thats good news.

Expect further updates of DvPlayer- it is an important component of SystemV54 and we are keen to continue development.

On another matter: did the InfoWB catalog work if you copy them across manually?

@ktadd

Thanks, will look into the Updater issue.

RadeonHD V5 is still in development - we are bug fixing at the moment.

InfoWB Polish Translation [Enhancer Software 2.1]
Quite a regular

Hello

It seems there was an error with the Installation script for InfoWB on the Enhancer Software 2.1

The Polish (and other) translations were not copied across.

To manually remedy the error, simply copy InfoWB.catalog from Installation_Files/Locale/Catalog/Polish to your system Locale/Catalogs directory.

After a reboot, the new InfoWB should be fully localised for the Polish language

Apologies for the inconvience.

@mr2

VA Lib is an integral part of the Enhancer Software V2 and forthcoming V54 distribution. DvPlayer is part of V54 and the same ecosystem. To operate they all rely on the many years of work put into Warp3D Nova. As you can imagine, this software is costly to develop so thank you for purchasing DvPlayer and supporting development.

The UVD Southern Islands driver for VA Lib is working and we are beta testing to iron out the bugs. As soon as it is available, we will put it out on Updater utility.

On another side subject, did the InfoWB Polish catalogs work ? InfoWB now supports Shift+click and should be fully localised for Polish users.

You use the word “bully” and “bullying” without consider who is being affected by actions of others and why a counter defence needs to be enacted. Are you privy to all facts before grabbing your pitch fork and assaulting social media ?

It is ironic that this thread with its name calling and half truths reflects the concept of bullying.

Maybe I should not respond at all because an inconvenient facts are not a popular consensus?
