Hi,

Must be about the 4th time now that someone has private messaged me starting with a sentence along the lines of:

"Sorry, I didn't notice that I had a private message its not obvious!"

Origin, I have a suggestion. Is it possible to change that email icon to Green (some bright ugly colour that doesn't go un-noticed) or perhaps an animated GIF - flashing icon?

Great to see a screenshot... okay a non-video related question from me.

Question for fab and kas1e

Okay this is fairly common in all web browsers, but a bit of a pet-hate. When the user has ONLY ONE webpage open there is really no need at all to show pages as tabs - its a complete waste of space - hide it. It only makes sense to show open webpages as tabs when there is more than one open.
I remember ages ago (possibly years) seeing what I am asking for in another browser.

Seriously though it is great to read regular updates.

@kas1e

I think most users would agree with you regarding regular updates - as long as no major bugs slip through that is. Every piece of software that can potentially DSI is probably not ready for release - but as you say we could wait forever.

I assume that Featured Donations was somehow aligned with AmigaBounty/OpenAmiga? I am pretty sure any developer (including myself) will be quite happy to be in Featured Donations if it was free to list - I am certain that most of us have a paypal account. If space is limited just rotate developers periodically to give everyone a fair chance.

Is the intention to bundle this JIT in with some future version of the OS or be updated via AmiUpdate?
I simply asking because I don't like fiddling and fannying about with a manual installation.

Thanks for the update. I guess the passphrase procedure is now automatic again as my upload left the queue and became published within minutes.

My TextEdit stage 3 upload will have to wait until tomorrow. I am curious to know if anyone is finding the Hollywood source code useful.

Re: AmigaOS and web browsing in 2013

Earlier on this thread people were asking for a bounty for MUI-OWB, my own personal opinion is that this should have been moved to Kickstarter months ago. That site is very popular and you will get interest from non-Amigans - eager to donate should you word it non-technically and enthusiastically.

AmigaBounty website has proven to be ineffective, big projects should be moved to Kickstarter in my opinion.

Look at the LibreOffice effort - could that not have been at the very least, tried on Kickstarter first? Same with Timberwolf/FireFox - did the developers exhaust these avenues first?

The usage of Elipsis seems fairly logical and I can see how it came about and can understand how it could be misused so easily.
I will try and make sure I use them correctly in all my creations. I also need to take a step back and look at what I have already produced and see if I have used it all and whether it has been applied correctly

Its fairly logical to assume that Timberwolf will be out next year after, and only after AmigaOS 4.2 is released. It has already been explained that Timberwolf needs hardware acceleration - this can only be realised once Gallium has arrived with AmigaOS.

Secondly, as I understand it the Friedens are responsible for both the Gallium and Timberwolf efforts - so one can conclude from this that once the first element is complete, the second should (you would hope) follow swiftly afterwards.

If there is one thing that having an Update 7 makes clear is that AmigaOS 4.2 will not be available this side of Xmas.

Re: One more bounty to loan HW for amiga developer

Sometime ago I was communicating with the folks behind Amigabounty with the suggestion that it should be completed replaced with something akin to Kickstarter.

Nothing really happened even though I was happy to build the site for free.

http://ignitiondeck.com/id/

Crowdfunding is very popular and the above is just one plug-in that is available for a popular CMS that can easily be taken advantage of.

If AmigaBounty didn't look like something from 1995 you would find more people outside the community more willing to donate.

Re: Constructive criticism of Hyperion

I think people need to remember that a lot of individuals help out Hyperion free of charge. Take foreinstance AmigaOS.net this was completely a community effort at no point did anyone get paid. Facebook activity is the same, look at /amigaos its entirely a community effort, well an individual effort (mine), the Amiga Facebook page which brings the best of both(all) worlds together is yet another example of a community contributing towards a common good - a team of 3 of which again I am of one. Often our efforts go unappreciated, but still we soldier on.

@vox

Believe me there are others involved of which my part was/is minimal - it is true I may have spurred Hyperion to take action - ie. give the community an official site, wiki, forum, coordinated Facebook presence etc...

Everyone is slow in Amiga land, e.g.if I was in charge I would have consolidated the Hyperion site into the AmigaOS one already- no need for duplication.

And then there is Twitter...

On the subject of browsers.. anyone have a clue how to resolve this error message which seems to have appeared from seemingly nowhere?

Unable to open 'https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8443/'.
Error 60: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates.

How can I "fix" this? NetSurf prompts me for something, however not useful because page loads blank... MUI-OWB does nothing but deny access to the site... worked previously.

Should load plesk log-in page for my VPS.

EDIT:

Actually never mind.. I ticked 'Ignore SSL Errors' in Preferences->Security.

Probably not the best idea but works nonetheless!
