@Amiga1200Mark I came back to Amiga last year just because i stumbled upon the "still alive" video on you tube (and go figure how much I had to dig up on the net after that just for some confirmation that new developments were truly taking place). So, who knows, maybe that simple column in PC Format might have light a spark in many unsuspecting ex amigans.

@Rigo then question N.2, How hard/long would it take to port the GUI toolkit?

Out of curiosity, I saw the recent port of QT designer for AmiCygnix, how hard would it be to make a native AOS port?
options: A)Almost Impossible
B)Hard but doable
C)Trivial
(I'm only talking about the GUI builder of course)

Happy Birthday! And incredible but true this also makes a year that I started (again) to have an interest in Amiga. It was last year (end of July/early August I can't recall precisely) that I stumbled upon the "still alive" video on you tube, which led me to search for it, get my A2000 out of the closet, visit Pianeta Amiga2009 and now here I am writing from my Sam. What a year! May she live forever!

@ChrisH indeed, my cousin just bought a new PC with USB 3.0 and has no device taking advantange of it. USB 2.0 will be the main tech for quite some time.

@kas1e Exciting news! Amiga for me meant 3D and image editing more than games (or "as much as" at least ) and while modern 3D is covered by Blender, modern image editing it's not. Initially Lodepaint seemed broken and alien, but with all these fixes and ASL load and saves it's a whole different story (heck add an Amiga theme and an Arrex port and it's as Amiga as it gets ). This app seems poised to become the de-facto standard now, specially if the author will include layers with blending modes ASAP. Keep us posted!

@328gts Well, we can find out if they indeed are the reason for the speed ups, Kas1e has them installed and I also remind Samo mentioning Aquaria as its favorite new game (so he should have them too), let us know your results after installing them!

@kas1e I'm away from home at the moment, actually I'll be commuting from a nearby sea-side location to the office (and back there) for this week, so I won't be able to use my Sam for a few days If when I come back you still need the info I will check it out! @328gts Are you sure you're not running the kernel in debug mode? do you send Lodepaint to its own screen or does it run windowed? (my test was in window mode with the window expanded to fill the entire screen) at 640x480x32 you should get around 20FPS when idle, and around 13 or 14 FPS while drawing.

@kas1e Could be.... in reality I wanted to open a new picture but sometimes I found myself hitting "new" instead by mistake, so I might very well did something like similar this time too.

@kas1e it gives me a 2Km long streak of scrolling text! Anyway I grabbed the window here it is: This is for an ISI, I also got a DSI earlier however, contrary to last time these were recoverable (the app crashed but Workbench stayed up).

@kas1e I generally open an image do some quick dirty work, save and close (always work without troubles) however since you asked, I tryed loading several images saving opening others and the program did lock up. Maybe it has to do with memory release of closed pictures?

@kas1e Gallium allows easy driver creation, which mean it should give us the chance of having latest generation GPU drivers way earlier than before. Moreover Warp3D has no support for Pixel/Vertex shaders, so it is a dead end IMHO

@kas1e Quote: In general, as i see on my old-machines-for-test with winxp (celeron 1.1ghz), there is FSB are only 99.7mhz. And, on readeon7000, on that machine mhhh... that points straight to our 3D drivers then. The huge difference in idle and "use" should be connected to the fact that we don't have hardware transform acceleration. Anyway, more processing power and bandwidth should help with software trasforms too I presume. However the sooner we get new 3D drivers the better. Hans said he needed to finish the 2D ones first but these are well on their way, so 3D should be the next step I guess...
