Software News

Campobasso, Italy - April 4th, 2009

EDITEL is pleased to announce the immediate availability of BOH, a brand-new game for AmigaOS 4 and Windows.

BOH is a game of exploration and action. You move in claustrophobic and dangerous battlefields searching for the Evil Masters. This no easy task not only because of the trap-packed corridors and mind-blowing puzzles, but also because of the countless enemies that the Evil Masters throw at you more and more until you discover them - at that point, you will be attacked directly by the Evil Masters themselves, the toughest of all. Although your quests are made slightly easier by the bonuses and power-ups scattered all around the battlefield, carrying out the missions demands lots of concentration and quick reflexes.

The game features:
* immediate & addictive gameplay;
* immersive & thrilling action;
* 25 challenging missions divided into 5 levels of difficulty;
* multi-phase missions;
* battlefields of any size and shape (also spread over multiple floors);
* AI-driven enemies;
* hand-pixelled 2D graphics;
* real-time lighting;
* atmospheric audio;
* full expandibility (themes, missions, languages);
* Deutsch, English, Espa?ol, Fran?ais and Italiano translations.

BOH comes on a CD-ROM (containing both the AmigaOS and the Windows versions) in a plastic DVD box along with a 24 pages, full-color printed manual (English only), at the bargain price of EUR 12.50 (VAT excluded).

At www.bohthegame.com you will find more information, screenshots, a 5 minutes trailer and you will also be able to order your copy.

Do not hesitate to dive into a new, exciting adventure!

Congratulations on the release. While I'm not sure it's really my sort of game, it's superb to see some original software being produced for the Amiga at last.

I hope it sells well for you, and that you will continue to create original and innovative games.

I have plenty of ideas in store, both as regards other game and a possible sequel of BOH. But everything will depend on the success of this project: I tried to make it as good, professional and, at the same time, inexpensive as possible, now let us see if this gamble of mine turns out.

Let me think about it. I'm not promising anything, though.

Please keep in mind that the trailer quality is lower than the actual one also as regards smoothness: the actual game is very smooth. Maybe I will add another video showing a fully real-world session.

Yes and no. The game is 320x240. The other resolutions are there to allow playing on screen with ratios other than 4:3 without deformation due to stretching.
The low resolution has been chosen on purpose because the game is meant to have a partially "retro" feeling: graphics are entirely hand-pixelled and their beauty can be appreciated only when pixels *are* visible (not to mention that it is not feasible to create hand-pixelled graphics at high resolutions). At the same time, the game utilizes "modern" techniques like real-time interpolated rotations and lighting (all at 24-bit). It is a mix a old and new under every aspect.
Finally, as regards resolutions: the version on sale also allows to play in a window at 1x, 2x, 3x and 4x zoom; moreover, there will be an update that will allow zooming also for full-screen modes (and offer better overall fullscreen support). Before releasing the update, I will wait for feedback in order to make it even better for users.

I hope this answers your concerns.

Indeed, yes: a few months ago I made a little survey to which most of the resellers kindly partecipated. It turned out that handling orders directly was the better solution to keep the cost down for the end-user.

Hi all,

I just wanted to inform you that now the DOWNLOADS page of the website allows you to get hold of the PDF version of the user's manual (including the updated version relative to the upcoming update). Having a look at it is highly recommended to get a good idea of what the game offers

edit: I have also added a screenshots page, which includes 3 new grabs (more will come later).

Hi again,

as promised, I uploaded a new video showing a real-world session: the direct link is http://www.bohthegame.com/data/game_session.wmv (the file size is about 129 MB).

Moreover, I added 4 new screenshots to the SCREENSHOTS page.

Enjoy,

If I understand your question correctly, the answer is: version does not matter since both the AmigaOS 4 and the Windows versions are on the CD; that said, yes, some copies have already been sold

I'm happy you liked it And consider that, in reality, on my A1 it looks twice as smooth

BTW: for those who can't bother or have problems downloading the videos, I have added a VIDEOS page to the website where videos can be seen in streaming.

Hi all,

I'd like to inform you that I have added a FAQ page to BOH's website where I collected all the questions, observations and answers scattered in the various threads here and elsewhere. The page turned out to contain plenty of interesting information about the present and also the future.
Thanks to all those who contributed!
