Amiga Events : Any Interest in IntuitionBase ?

Amiga Events

Today we are November 18th.
On IntuitionBase we can read the following :

Quote:

The Future of Intuitionbase
Hi, anyone still visit here?

Anyway its me Darren (Ryu).

The domain is set to expire at the beginning of December and since the sites been broken off and on all year, I haven't had any assistance and I personally have little time anymore im asking you, my readers what you would like to do with the site?

I'd happily hand the whole thing over to some new developers if theres a need to keep the site, or come December the site will just vanish... It will be a sad day indeed.

Its all in your hands guys, please contact me using the contact form if that works or via pm at amigaworld.net or email me.. whatever works basically!

Thanks guys, (as I wipe a tear from my cheek)

Darren aka Ryu

I personnaly think IntuitionBase was and still is a great place to go for AmigaOS4 software and hardware compatibility.
Those databases should not be lost, it was a great idea, maybe the querying interface (especially hardware part) should be reworked a bit, but the idea is here.
On the other hand maybe having a separate website was not a good idea and that could have been a subpart of another one (either a Amigans.net, but that's not really its purpose, or UtilityBase more suitable).

The end is near, is there anyone that is interested ?
If nobody stand up I eventually will contact Ryu to get the database content and will put it on my personnal website.

I haven't gone to IntuitionBase in a long time; but I think that it is an important site to keep alive.

Re: Any Interest in IntuitionBase ?
I visit it quite regularly.

I did try just the other day to add some information tpo the software database but the form does not seem to work and it then crashed IBrowse.

If the Contact form behaves the same way it will be difficult to contact Darren using it

Update: The contact form works it seems just the software submission that fails.

Bill.

The information on that site is worth saving alone, it is a great aset.
The number of current users of Intuitionbase are limited by the current legal situation, and unfortunatley this looks as if it could be another casuality of the lack of hardware.

We might be able to come to an agreement to get the articles transferred to amigans.net.

The compatibility databases are useful (but, as has been said, need a bit of work), in fact the software one started out on my own website and Ryu took it over when he started IntuitionBase.

Not sure how easy it would be to transfer those somewhere else, it depends on the code and the underlying database.

Re: Any Interest in IntuitionBase ?
It truly is a great asset, but it drastically needs a bit of dosh input to keep
it on the internet, and I think that Ryu (Darren) and GiGa (Jonathan) could do
with a bit of verbal support to keep their spirits up to keep it going.
Even a small donation (?5?) from a few of us and a support message would help.
Any chance one of you Mods could put this on the front page for a while to see if we can garner some support?

If this site will in fact die soon DiscreetFX is willing to host it/take it over to stop if from disappearing off the internet.

Re: Any Interest in IntuitionBase ?
I would be quite happy to contribute finds to help keep the domain, but if the server is not reliable I would be just as happy to help fund the site on another site/server. I agree that IntuitionBase could be a part of UtilityBase since they have a similar layout, but would be happy as long as it continues as an ongoing site somewhere.

I would be happy to support the movement of all articles to Amigans.net.

The resources are too valuable to lose, they must be saved for posterity

I've used it a couple of times infact. Would be a smart thing to atleast keep the resources,if not on the same place.

AS I mainly visit Amigans.net (though my "very limited" amount of spare time), I really would like it to be added to this site...

How about a merge or an incorporation with another popular Amiga website?

@ thread

Just been on Intuitionbase to find a posting by Darren (on 22 November) to say he's keeping the site going for at least the next 12 months.
More importantly, he's just returned from his honeymoon, so Congrats (on both counts)
