New stuff from the French guys
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

See User information
Hi there,

We are at the Amigateries local Amiga show, held in Villers-les-pots, France.

So far we had demos of :

* X-Dock to come bundled with A-Eon's Enhancer Pack
* Snes9X playable even on the Sam440. A brand new complete world of games now comes to AmigaOS 4.1 ! (more than 150 games) with AltiVec support
* New version of Final Burn Alpha with new display options/filter options (openGL filter available) and new optimizations (AltiVec)
* Warp3D NOVA demoed (what is not under NDA was demoed) with very interesting explanations from Huno and Crisot regarding what is the difference between Warp3D and Nova

Great event as usual!

BTW, some bug in DirMeUp (Glames) and ftpd (Alex) will be soon fixed.

Crisot will show us Odyssey's advancement (his Dungeon Crawler game).

Thanks for the brief summary. I'd be interested to hear more about two of them.

Quote:
* New version of Final Burn Alpha with new display options/filter options (openGL filter available) and new optimizations (AltiVec)

What effect to the new display options and optimizations have?

Quote:
* Warp3D NOVA demoed (what is not under NDA was demoed) with very interesting explanations from Huno and Crisot regarding what is the difference between Warp3D and Nova

So, what was demo'd? And what did Huno & Crisot say? I'd be interested to hear their take.

Huno thinks:
It's a great step forward and he is interested to work with Nova. The only problem he sees is that there is a big learning curve as Nova API is completely different than W3D one.
He completely understands we have to leave the old games behind as porting them from W3D to Nova is a so big effort that it's a non-sense.
Nova is the future, no doubt on that.

Crisot is not here yet. The night was short you know
We'll give his answer later.

"we have to leave the old games behind as porting them from W3D to Nova is a so big effort that it's a non-sense."

One has nothing to do with the other. Having Warp3D_SI on the X1000 didn't mean you could run old stuff as WarpOS layer didn't work here.

You can create great legacy support on one hand and exploit newer thechnologies on the other like a lot of indy developers do.

Ok but when you say "you can", it will not be Huno for sure.

@All

Note the new release of FTPd (on OS4depot) by Abalaban. This version works a lot better than the previous release. It allows to use another computer to connect to a FTP area on an OS4 machine.

@Huno : thx for this great event, it was awesome to see the updated version of FBA, Darkplace with HD textures, a demo of X-Dock, a SNES emulator with a reaction GUI (awesome job by K-L, Mumu and Elwood to bring the snapshots and game boxes to the GUI), a demo of Warp3D Nova (I know now how to make the difference between shader and shaderless object).
Thanks to the French amiga team AmiOuest for releasing an updated version of FTPd (already uploaded to OS4depot BTW !).

See you all next year !

Congrats, guys!

Really to bad I had to cancel few days ago, so I missed the event this year. Very curious to see the work done and ... pictures!

I would also be interested in having details about optimisations ... Huno, I hope you will explain.

Not sure what you mean. It sounds like you're going to ask Crisot a new question. I was asking about what Huno & Crisot already said, as in:

Quote:
Warp3D NOVA demoed (what is not under NDA was demoed) with very interesting explanations from Huno and Crisot regarding what is the difference between Warp3D and Nova

What were the "interesting explanations?"
