For some days now i m getting the download for an Atheros5000.device presented by AmiUpdate.

I m on an X1000 and don t have that WLAN hardware.

I installed it once by accident, but it keeps coming back.

Where do i report such broken downloads?
I don t really want to file a bug report every time on the AmiUpdate tracker

you can always just add the update to the ignore list and never have to see it again.

Check for it in ENVARC:AppDir and ENVARC:AppPaths, delete if present

Okay so what does it say when you double click on the update?

Does it give a previous version?

In which some part of it is still installed.

Does it say Not Found on path?

In which case it set to install even if not present.

Is this a system update ot third party?

I dont recognise, it but X1000 might have some componets Im un aware of.

Its third party

It says:

OS Extension
An update to the Atheros500.device Spanish Locale files is available.
Not found on path

Remote File
Atheros5000SP.lha 1.5 (30.08.2013)

Local file
Help/spanish/Atheros5000SP.guide Not found on path

My workbench is english, i dont have the hardware, i dont have the software, so why is it trying to install?

Because the author of the software or perhaps just the translation has set it to install even if not present.

Email the author and ask them to change that.

please contact rigo directly so that he can change the amiupdate entry in the database.
it seems the flag is set that installs it even if the corresponding files are not installed. that can be changed though.

regards...
michael

Sure Rigo can fix it, but you should ideally report it to the software author, and I may be wrong but I dont think thats Rigo in this case.

Getting Rigo to fix it would be like emailing my website server provider to get my giglist corrected, they could probably do it but it mys job!
