SBLive! EMU10K1 tinkering

Sam440ep - SBLive! SB-0220 OS4.1up4

I had some spare time and started messing about with various settings
in AHI and Mixer for a SBLive! EMU10k1 sound card. I'll get back to it
soon I hope but in the mean time the following may be of interest to others
with the same card and a 5.1 sound system.

AHI setup.

1.For all units select EMU10kx 16 bit 7.1 multichannel
2. set all sliders far left for all Units except Unit 0.
3. for Unit0
---set Frequency to 48000 Hz
---Channels = 4
---Volume = -3.0db
---Monitor = Muted
---Gain = +0.0 db
---Input = Mixer (far left)
---Output = Front & Rear
In Advanced settings set
---Debug - None
---CPU usage - 94%
---anti-click 0ms
---Volume scaling = -6 db

Save it.

Open Mixer.

1. Select emu10kx.
2. Set all Monitor sliders to bottom and Mute them by clicking on the
- -speakers at the top.
3. Set Playback Master slider to -6.0dB
4. set Playback PCM to (+) 3.0dB
5. Click Save.

6. Just for good measure reboot the OS.

Start the Mixer.
Play a video, CD, Timidity, or something. Once the sound level is where
you want it set with your speaker system start playing with the two active
sliders on the mixer. move them slowly until the sound is positioned where
it's best for what you are listening to.

If you find something more about this.....let us know.

This is for the cards with a EMU10K1 chip.
When I get my Amiga with PCIe (soon, I hope) then I'll try
a SoundBlaster PCIe. AFAIK the PCIe cards all have the
emu20kx series chips.

At this point, I just don't know.
