Porting InkScape possible on Amicygnix ????

Hello,

Using AOS4 and even if I search more precisely a pixel based program, I really would like to have a great paint package ported or on Amicygnix at first:

Maybe this one:

http://www.inkscape.org/?lang=en&css=css/base.css

Gallery:

The source compiling page:

http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Compiling_Inkscape

This kind of program could be ported to AOS4/MorphOS/Aros or Amicygnix (libs dependencies) ????

As Spot said: porting it to os4 will be hard though.
we currently lack:

* 4.1 Boehm-GC
* 4.3 GlibMM
* 4.4 GtkMM
* 4.6 Boost
* 4.7 Poppler

Check out Sodipodi from OS4 Depot.

I already have GlibMM, GTKMM and Poppler.

Boost is not available for Newlib at the moment, but shouldn't be too hard to compile.
But the biggest problem is Boehm-GC. It was already ported to OS3.x, but it is a very bad hack
and the code unusuable for OS4 / AmiCygnix.
At the moment I don't see a chance to port this library.

That's a pity, because InkScape is an awesome program (rather better than Sodipodi I think), and I often use it.

Boehm-gc is a kind of memory managment.....

just 640ko but surely, as you said, hard to port...

Your answer push me to post another question:

About GlibMM, GtkMM and Poppler.

As you said, you have this libs on Amicygnix allready:

- There is an interest to be in touch with you in case a programmer want to port them to AOS4.x ???

- The fact that amicygnix have allready this libraries (or others) give less job for a real port to AOS4.x (or no relation at all) based on the amicygnix ported version ???.

GTKMM and GlibMM are very easy to port ... if you already have GTK2 and Glib2. GTKMM and GlibMM are just C++ interfaces with no real functionality.

Poppler is a simple library for PDF files - should be easy to port.

So my libs would not be a great help for a native port. Too much dependencies to X11.
