1. Try as I might, I cannot find this file. I also used the find utility, besides just opening the directory to look for it. I get this: System:System/AmiUpdate/AmiUpdate
and this:
System:System/AmiUpdate/RollBack/2021-01-20/AmiUpdate

But I don't find the SiteList file anywhere.
It should be in the main SYS:System/AmiUpdate/ dir. Note that it has no icon, so use Shell or view all files.

Quote:
2. Over time I have added server addresses to AmiUpdate. For good measure and once and for all, what are all of the working sites to use for searching with AmiUpdate? Currently I have:
amiupdate.codebench.co.uk
update.amigaos.net
www.amiupdate.net
The first and third of those are actually the same server. It's supposed to be reachable at www.amiupdate.net, but there were some DNS problems some time ago, where a common workaround was to use the "direct" address of amiupdate.codebench.co.uk instead. Enable whichever one seems to work for you and disable the other.

Note that this server is for public, third-party updates, not OS updates.

The middle one, update.amigaos.net, is the one to use for official OS4 updates.

Quote:
It also searches ww2.hyperion-entertainment.com. Entering my hyperion username and passwrod there lets it scan there as well even though it's not listed in my servers.
Dont bother with that one, it is not meant for direct access. When AmiUpdate uses the update.amigaos.net server, it is instructed to fetch stuff on this other server, but that should happen automatically "behind the scenes". It is however shown in the log to aid in problem solving.

Quote:
edit: I have now added ww2.hyperion-entertainment.com to the server list, but still get anothing but the RAR update listed.
As written above, don't do that.

Anyway, the RAR update comes from the third-party server, not from the OS one.

Best regards,

Niels

"SiteList" seems to be AWOL.

Still no joy getting these two latest updates.

The SiteList file was always in Sys: for me, check there too.

Also, check that your main AmiUpdate dir isn't write-protected for some reason.

I'd expect AmiUpdate to create the file automatically if it isn't there when it needs it.

It doesn't. But it should prompt for username/password. There might be something else going on here.

@Paul
In your AmiUpdate dir, try creating a file called SiteList
In it, put the following:
AmigaOSUpdateServer
{username}
{
password}

Replace {username} and {password} with the ones you use on hyperion-entertainment.com

Thanks for the suggestions. I created the sitelist file as Chris suggested. checked the status of the AmiUpdate folder and "Write" is enabled (checked). But it still doesn't pick up the last two updates.

Incidentally, today it was VVVVEERRRYYY slow getting to the servers.

Paul

Yeah, it looks like the Hyperion servers are down or at least in trouble today. The forum is also not accessible.

You can also see from the log that the only server AmiUpdate succeeds in contacting is the "third party" server, www.amiupdate.net, which redirects to codebench.co.uk, where an update is found, but has an invalid entry in the database: "11:38:22 This update has a listed requirement with an invalid syntax (Amiga PPC and AmigaOS4 final edition Update 2), checking aborted". Some third party author has made an error in the entry. I have seen this before, but forget which program it is.

Anyway, that's a different problem. As for the OS4-related update, you'll have to try again once the servers are back up.

Best regards,

Niels

Success!!! I guess creating that little text file "SiteList" is all that was needed. I now have the updates.

Thanks everyone!

Great to hear!

I'm still a bit puzzled, though, I am almost sure I never had to create it myself.

Yes...intriguing...now that I think about it...I'm not sure anymore if SiteList is created automatically or if it had to be created manually.
I dont remember, it was years ago that I first installed AmiUpdate.

Yes, same. I guess AmiUpdate used to create it but some bug has been introduced in intervening years.

Unless the code is somehow broken, AmiUpdate should create the file (if it doesn't exist, or amend/append, to it if it does, ONLY on a successful connection.

Once the login details are confirmed and a login is confirmed, THEN the sitelist file will be altered or created to store those details.

As I said, unless some changes have broken that operation somehow, it should work as it always did.
