Branched from https://www.amigans.net/modules/xforum ... id=117440#forumpost117440

I'm looking for testers who could run http://capehill.kapsi.fi/ahi/AhiStereoTest.lha and tell whether left and right sound channels are separated or does it sound mono.

I'm using an EMU10K sound card and it sounds mono.

PS. test program might be loud, turn down the volume first!

EDIT: after running the Mixer tool, I have stereo audio. Something seems to have been wrong with my audio settings then?

I'm using an X1000 with the builtin sound (hdaudio.audio) and I don't hear any sound at all. I'm running the "a.out" program from a shell and the output in the shell indicates that it's playing sound but I don't hear anything. AmigaAMP, TuneNet, Multiview and other players work fine on my system.

X1000 - onboard audio
Enhancer
Sound Prefs
Mode Settings set to hdaudio:HiFi 32 bit 7.1 channel++ for all units

Sound is properly distinguishable between left and right (turns out i had the cable plugged in wrong, so thank you for that)

Works also when using Stereo++

I'm not sure why the test doesn't make any sound on my X1000 but it could be my settings. Here are my AHI settings:

Driver: hdaudio.audio version 6.22
Music unit: Unit 0:Hifi 16 bit stereo++ (44100 Hz)
Unit 0: hdaudio:HiFi 16 bit Stereo++ (44100 Hz)

The device.audio that shows 'Unit 0' in the AHI 'Music unit' settings is version 6.22.

I also have the Mixer docky installed in AmiDock.

Yup, strange. Unless I'm mistaken the original code is by Martin Blom, I just hacked it a bit in order to test the left and right channels.

I need still debug my own "mono sound" issue.

EDIT: solved now, by running the Mixer tool.
