Help: Hyperion's Port of Heretic II

Hey folks, whilst Logged into the Hyperion website, I noticed a Patch for Heretic II

I still have this game from around 2010? (Original Hyperion Box, with 2 CD's) so I tried to install it and it appears to have tried to install the 68k version. Towards the end it failed, saying something along the lines of failed to find IXEMUL48.library? (or something similar)

My point. Is it possible to install Heretic II on AOS4.1 FE u1? If so, what steps do I need to take?

There is no 68k version of Heretic II. You need the OS4.x version of Wizard library to install it, I don't know of any other impediments to installation.

I had Heretic II installed on my XE G4 and it was so flaky that you couldn't make any real progress in the game.

All hope in ... Entwickler-X. Gorky17, Descent FS, Postal - are the best in porting Hyperion games. We are looking forward to the fresh port of Heretic II.

It be nice to see "SiN" ported to AmigaOS as well.
currently they only created a Linux version of that game.

the only two games I don't yet own is "SiN" and "Shogo: Mobile Armor Division"

A lot of Hyperion's old licenses are not valid for Amiga OS4 and would have to be renegotiated.

Should it matter that they don't cover Amiga OS4 as such I mean when they were first released a few years back surely they covered Amiga as a platform and not a specific version of the OS

That confused me too for a few seconds. But he was replying to Rob (without quoting), who said "A lot of Hyperion's old licenses are not valid for Amiga OS4 and would have to be renegotiated."

So his reply was suggesting that Hyperion would not need to renegotiate the license, they could just release a patch.

Unless there is some time restrictions or something I, do not see the problem, surely it be just maintenance of their old code. Unless it says the only have right port to WarpOS, but then again WarpOS is just some run time library to enable PowerPC programs to run on AmigaOS version 3.x, so it don't see big problem with it. I mean the intended target was always AmigaOS in some way or form.

But only 1 fps :-p

Note2: Using renderer:Soft to Image in Wazp3D-Prefs should (?) be faster

The Heretic II demo i have on my Freescape disk works with the updated Rewarp on the X5000 with no need to run Patch Warp 3D or replace it with Wazp3D

You do get a DSI but ignore this and it runs.

I have it running in 800x600 and 1024x768 modes too

So i got HereticII running on OS4.1.
Bit of a faff though.

Need the demo.
1. Install demo
2. Install full game.
3. It will crash when you try to register.
4. copy quake2.dll from demo drawer to full version drawer
5. copy h2common.dll from demo drawer to full version drawer
6. I copied register.gui from install CD/C to my Heretic2 drawer, ran it and entered my CD Key. Unsure if this is actually needed though.
7. run H2 choose software renderer.

You may get occasional DSI errors which on my X1000 can be ignored.
So far I have progressed to silverspring palace without any issues.
The Hyperion patch works and makes a BIG difference to performance.

I can install and enter my serial number without any crashes. (using ISOs on Hyperion web site and wizard.library + ixemul.library.

Copied dlls from demo version updated with patch.

However after selecting screenmode and one DSI crash, game stops with a black screen.

How do you switch software renderer ? Can you share your user.cfg ?

Can you get to the book style option screen?
You select software renderer in video options.
