Okey, when upgrading my A1 with a new gfx card it would definitely be the 4350 rather than the 1/2k series ;)

Hans : This is great news ! A big step forward. It is very motivating to see improvements like that even if the development was hard.
I thank you so much ! And I hope one day we will get 3D support.

Have any idea who will do that ?:) Hyperion ?

It remains to be seen who will work on 3D drivers. Regardless of whether Hyperion do, or I do, the developer will have to work with me; the 2D and 3D drivers have to work together, and I haven't created the backend for that yet.

Great work.

The hw acceleration for the r600 and r700,is there maybe code you can share with the r500 so that it will be quicker to fix that?

Unfortunately no. One of the big changes between the R500 and R600/R700 series is that they ditched the 2D blitter unit entirely. This was a logical decision, since the GPU can do it all using shaders, and the silicon used by the 2D unit could be better used elsewhere.

This probably won't take as long because I'm not moving half way across the world this year, so I won't be waiting on my gear arriving for a few months, and I'm more familiar with the driver API, and programming graphics cards.

I sent you a new log (crash) privately.

Although i don't think it will bring anything new than the others i sent, i still hope something catches your eye you can fix and will finally make those crashes go away for me...

My apologies for resurrecting a dead thread. Since frying my motherboard, sending it to Revanche, getting it fixed, and finding out that all the other components (including my Radeon 9000 AGP card) were fried, I was wondering about replacing my Radeon 9000 with an AGP version of the X1300. I read on your site that there are problems with using PCI HD cards with the DMA/USB fixed AmigaOnes. Are there also problems with the AGP version of the X1300 cards? Do such cards even work?

Oopsy! I just found the part of the thread indicating that the AGP version of the card requires a different voltage... Oh well.

hey hans i wonder how things is going on with the drivers. i mostly hope your working on the 4350 drivers for the amiga platforms sake, with the new x1000 comming up, i need modering gfx card, and hey the card is not so expensive, i think that all amigans will prefer the 4350 over the others,i hope you skip the time on the other cards,in fewer of the 4350 one,
wanna know iff thare has been any progress, i am thinking about become an beta tester, but i have the amiga one micro. will that work or will it crash and burn...i have the 4350 card in mind when i am talking about beta testning....

I have a question.. you are working on the 2D driver for HDRadeon, but i was wondering about our graphic system Picasso.. It is very old and i think that in the future it needs to be improved or even rewritten to make full use of these powerfull board like the radeon hd 4350.. so my guess was, what about all your work ?, will it be still usefull or you will have to do everything from the beginning ?

The R600 (e.g., 2400) and R700 (e.g., 4350) series are very similar, so work on one is pretty much work on the other. I don't want to say much at the moment other than that things are moving forward. There is more work to do to get the first acceleration function working than their was with the X1550, but once that is done, things will move faster.

I have kept as much as the code independent from the Picasso96 API as possible, so transitioning to a completely new system won't require a complete rewrite. Added to this, every graphics system need the same basic hardware acceleration functions, such as filling rectangles, blitting bitmaps, etc.

That's not to say that such a change will be easy, only that a lot of code could be reused, or at least modified to suit the new system.

Old news.

Great work hans. Lets hope you can get the dvi working really soon.

But when the dvi etc are fixed. What's the next plan then? Any plans for adding 5 and 6000 series aswell? Or going for 3d support for the ones we allready have first?
