amigfx is faster, just not complete yet.

You can think of sdl as generic, and there for not optimal.

I don't test SDL version recently, but IIRC unlike Amigfx it does not have built-in floppy drive sound emulation. (RunInUAE can fake floppy drive noises, but it isn't as good.) SDL might also be missing other little things that Amigfx added?

That said, those things should easily be added to the SDL version.

My e-uae SDL port on OS4Depot has the built-in driveclick sounds and uses libSDL-1.2.so and libz.so.1.

Does anyone else have tiny flickering black lines on the screen when using the SDL version? The "optimized for sam440ep" port of e-uae by m3x does the same thing, and both mine and that are slower than Richard Drummond's 2007 WIP4 build. Not sure why. I assumed it'd be the version of libSDL it was built against, but I tried older libSDLs as well.

Is the intention to bundle this JIT in with some future version of the OS or be updated via AmiUpdate?
I simply asking because I don't like fiddling and fannying about with a manual installation.

the best thing would be to get the jit emulation into fs-uae which is the most up to date non-windows version of uae.

All these different versions of uae for os4 are confusing the hell out of me. If you arent on the boards all the time knowing about it, its daunting to figure all this out.

I really feel we need to focus on the Built in OS4 RunInUAE with an AUTO Updater (Amiupdate) and most importantly a GUI configuration tool like the windows version. I hate editing txt files, i know how to do it, its just a pita to change every time.

If you find it confusing, then simply DON'T BOTHER! This is a very early Beta (more like Alpha I think), with poor compatibility & other problems.

Once all those problems are fixed, then OF COURSE RunInUAE will be updated (via AmiUpdate) with a version of E-UAE that supports JIT. Doing so before then would be putting the cart before the horse IMHO.

That said, if I get time, I might release an Alpha of RunInUAE which contains JIT support. It would NOT be released via AmiUpdate, for hopefully obvious reasons.

I agree 100%. Those that want to play with alpha/beta JIT support and all the other combinations are welcome to of course.

We will also probably want to update the 68k Amiga Workbench install which is included with the ROMs. An update to the included WHDLoad will also be needed. There is always more work to be done.

The good news is all you have to do is sit back and wait for everything to be delivered via AmiUpdate once it is all tested if you want to avoid the hassle.

We already have a GUI, check EasyUAE:

The last build i tested from michael without jit is gave me the 3x faster performance compared with before use(of runInuae)... probably because a better and optimized sdk or better cpu emulation ...

yes some games are continue be slow but not because Jit or not jit because the use of some routines related the chipset....
I think is possible update the runinuae but without the Jit enabled.

Why is this needed? I'm right now using RunInUAE with the Jit UAE. I only replaced the UAE binary by the JIT one.

or more simple:
Copy the executable Uae.jit in the Euae-amigfx folder
after run runInUae
Go in top bar menu en select "program" ... select the Uae.jit
Close RunInUae and it will use Uae.jit is a default executable

If the only thing you did was replace the original euae binary with the JIT one, you are NOT running in JIT mode. To enable JIT, you must add these commands to your .uaerc file.

enable_jit=yes
cpu_speed=real
cpu_type=68020
cpu_compatible=false
cpu_cycle_exact=false
blitter_cycle_exact=false
comp_optimize=no
cachesize=8192
comp_constjump=yes
comp_trustbyte=indirect
comp_trustword=indirect
comp_trustlong=indirect

You can tell if you are running with JIT enabled if you turn on the control panel LEDs. With JIT enabled, you will see the rightmost LED indicate "JIT" which will flash green.
Without the above variables, the JIT version just runs the same as the normal euae.
