@LiveForIt
Just a few variables not initializated correctly.
Although it freezes when you change inside MacOS sound output rate (HZ), so don't change it! :-p

Can someone post what BaasiliskII ouputs as 'music unit' and Hz?

TIA

It's just emulator fighting over CPU cyles if its the CPU emulation or sound emulation that should get any CPU cycles. Mplayer uses huge sound buffer it prevents jittering I think, I don't know about Basilisk II, sound was not some thing I looked at.

Thanks, sound is better on the sam460 but it's still very crappy.

Ok, forgot to remove DEBUG output, will (re)compile a new one and post here ASAP.
Will build a version that uses 22050Hz or upper if not avail and without debug output.

BTW what soft do you use/test under macos?
I only tested with de ERROR (Quack sound) that comes in Audio Control.

Ok thx, will try to test those programs.

http://jabirulo.site90.com/temp/BasiliskII_05ahi.7z

It tries to set frequency to 22050Hz, if not possible it tries (not tested) to set a valid value (44100Hz,...)

There is improvement on the Sam460, I will try to capture the audio output.

And I still have to test on the X1000, unfortunately it's I'm very busy today/tonight.

hem... if i choose filesave in AHI, a clear and beautifull sound goes out of the audiocard... both on the X1000 and the Sam460

Even if the console output is :
Using "Filesave:HiFi 16 bit stereo++, AIFF" (AHIPrefs 'Music unit') 22050Hz

Uuuh, ¿:-/ never tested with FILESAVE as music unit. Will do some tests ASAP.

What sample rate do you get when setting AHI (music unit) to "normal" audiocard driver?

THX for testing

EDIT1: reading audio sources it opens UNIT 0 for audio, so debug output I'm showing is wrong. I need to change something to use MUSIC UNIT (or show UNIT 0 values) as output (don't know how to do it now, but will try...)

Hi jabirulo,

I'm wondering if you might have any insight into what
happens if MacOS tries to access its "modem" or "printer"
serial ports?

I've been trying to follow and isolate this "Error 28"
app crash I've been encountering. I suspected it might
have something to do with the MacOS config, so I've been
go through a bunch of the control panels.

Indeed I found if Appletalk was turned on and I happened
to switch the mode to "Modem port" (instead of ethernet,
for example), then I encountered the same "Error 28"
problem.

Checking Basilisk's settings, the modem port is just its
default "serial.device".

Would there be any way to make it so the entire port
connection could be faked within Basilisk (as if there
was nothing connected) and we could just avoid touching
any devices on the Amiga side?

Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Thanks!

PJS

@pjs

Basilisk2 sources has
"serial_dummy.cpp - Serial device driver, dummy implementation"
so I can use it instead
"serial_amiga.cpp - Serial device driver, AmigaOS specific stuff" is using now and upload and then you can test and see what happens.

EDIT1: just see makefile and it uses already "serial_dummy.cpp" for serial/parallel, so it doesn't use your serial/parallel devices at all.
What program is showing such error?
Your MacOS version please?

Hi guys,

It's been a few years, I took another look at Basilisk and
a stab at where things stand with networking...

Back in the old days, I had great results using the 68K
VLink virtual SANA-II drivers to get Shapeshifter online
with MiamiDx:

http://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/vlink

I checked in with Olaf Barthel and he said it should still
work with OS4 Roadshow (Thanks Olaf!).

So I created another interface for VLink in Roadshow and I
selected the "mirror" in Basilisk's GUI and fired it up.
The good news is that the Mac thinks it's online. Bad
news: it can't see anything - pinging anything (but itself)
fails.

Maybe Roadshow and Basilisk are just misconfigured? ...or
is Basilisk unable to network? I just don't know. Anyone
else tried this?

The final bit of good news with Basilisk thinking it's
online - now MiniCAD 7 runs! :) No more "Error 28".
Apparently that was MiniCAD's network license checking
failing (no more).

Final question... Isn't Basilisk still using the old UAE
engine without the new JIT ?

If so, would it be possible to compile one of the new
versions of the UAE-JIT engine into Basilisk?

Thoughts? Experience?

Thanks!

PJS

@pjs As Mac emulation is not so much about hardware mimicry, the JIT core should work only better there. But that's about all I can say about it.

AFAIK (and remember) network support isn't "acive", it uses eth_dummy source code.
About JIT code it uses and "old" uae core sources.
If I have spare time will try to do a simple recompile, last time I tried I couldn't complete/finish it (missing something or resources, I can't remember now).
