Probably been asked a thousand times, but why is the temporary Amigans.net still available after all this time, surely it's just confusing for users new and old?
Rude! |

Or, Maybe if this one goes down, that one can fill the gap until this one is fixed?
Worked like that before. ![]() |

Maybe because it looks a lot better on all browsers and loads much faster...
So what if it's a couple of years out of date as far as the posts are concerned. If I could access current threads, news etc through it, I'd use it all the time. |

Quote: Maybe because it looks a lot better on all browsers and loads much faster... Looks really bad on my computer. Quote: If I could access current threads, news etc through it, I'd use it all the time. In that case you end up whit one SQL server that if goes down, will bring down both sites. To solve this they need to setup SQL server mirroring on the sites. |

Quote: looks like your using a really old web browser with out CSS support. Yes I am, It's really old (exactly a month today) but it does not: Support CSS Crash or lockup the system Take ages to load pages Scroll pages slowly Lose Zoom factor when switching tabs and back Randomly decide to draw a page differently Display popups and adverts overwrite existing downloads when 'start downloads automatically' is turned on. Make it incredibly difficult to remove fastlinks. And finally unless you've ported it I cannot run chrome on OS4 (Amiga only here). ![]() Yes I've seen that site, No I've nothing to run it on... |

With the current version of Odyssey (which was released well before your post): Quote: Make it incredibly difficult to remove fastlinks. Right-click & choosing "Remove" makes it about as simple as possible! Quote: Lose Zoom factor when switching tabs and back I don't use zoom, seemed to work fine when I tested it. But if it does happen then I hope you report this bug (so it gets fixed - you'll never see IBrowse get a bug fixed!). Quote: Take ages to load pages In an apples-to-apples comparison, Odyssey surely loads non-CSS sites (like amigans.net) just as fast as ancient browsers without CSS support. While CSS sites actually appear the way they were intended (and thus are usable). Quote: Scroll pages slowly Odyssey scrolls pages very fast here. Most likely as fast as IBrowse. If it's slow then I can only guess there is something wrong with your system (like very limited video memory). Quote: Crash or lockup the system I don't have that kind of problem with it. OTOH, IBrowse has a high chance of crashing when simply started on OS4 (due to a bug in IBrowse or possible the JIT depending on who you believe, I suspect IBrowse). Quote: Randomly decide to draw a page differently Errrr, no such problem with Odyssey. Quote: Display popups and adverts To a certain extent this is an unavoidable consequence of supporting Javascript well... BUT you can enable "Content Blocking" (Adblock), disable "Allow JavaScript to open new windows", and even disable Javascript entirely by default (enabling it on a per-site basis as needed) if you are really sensitive. Quote: overwrite existing downloads when 'start downloads automatically' is turned on. So don't use 'start downloads automatically' ![]() |
