Boot without wbstartup things via shift: is it recent in os4 ?

Question is:

When i want to boot my workbench without wbstartup things (does not matter if i use it as old WBStartup drivers way, or as new preference way), i can on os4 use or alt (as it was before on os3), or shift.

Now, question is: is it recent in os4 thing ? Because i can't make on os3 booting without wbstartup by holding shift. Only by holding alt. While on aos4, and shift, and alt , both do the same.

I believe it was there already in 3.5, but at some point it got changed to use Alt. Then later, in early OS4, it was changed to allow either Shift or Alt.

Best regards,

Niels

I didn't know about Shift. I always used Alt

Also there is Ctrl to boot without startup-sequence.

Strange :) So it was shift in the 3.5, then no shift in 3.9, and then shift again in the 4.x ? Strange why there was needs to add shift, if alt already there and works. And before, and now. I mean, what the reasons for 2 the same shortcuts to do the same thing ?

I know, question is why on os4 now its shift and alt (what the reasons to have 2 the same ?). Why it was added at all ?

I'm not sure it was that simple, and I don't remember whether all these changes were in released versions, or only in beta. But you can read the beta relnotes of wb.lib yourself .

Backwards compatibility with both 3.5 and 3.9, I guess.
