I've kind of lost track:

1. Do we know how compatible his JIT currently is? i.e. What percentage of 68020+ software that works with original UAE still works with his JIT UAE?

2. Does he plan any further optimisations, or changes which might give big speed-ups? I was a bit disappointed that the last speed test he made (in May!) only showed a 4x speed-up (which is significant, but not nearly enough for many of the reasons people want JIT in the first place). I would have hoped for perhaps a 10x speed-up...

Update: http://euaejit.blogspot.com

(Put ppc.use_tbc=false in your .uaerc, in addition to what is listed in the README)

Just make a simple test with sysinfo ... on Xe 933

Cpu Emulated 040 mmu and fpu with Aga

Uae amigfx = 5 mips and 2.52 mflops
Uae Jit = 14.86 mips and 3.28 mflops

it is a great result for a beta!

with 68020 only 25.95 mips

x5 speed-up sounds nice, but I suspect that SysInfo isn't the best way of benchmarking JIT (it'll probably give faster speeds than real-life programs).

Although you could argue it gives the "best case" speed-up, in which case this JIT can give us up to x5 speed-up.

the best benchmarks are
1) Breathless
2)Alien breed 3d
3) Shapeshifter :P
4)Quake 68k timedemo :)

i will make another time an hdf wit os 3.9 and rtg to understand how it is fast :)

I'm pretty sure E-UAE can't emulate an MMU.

Anyone doing benchmarks should disable the TBC frequency calculation. It's currently broken, and might affect the emulation speed (it does with mandel_hw.kick).

For now, the e-uae-amigfx archive on OS4Depot won't be updated (with the JIT) until the JIT is out of beta, or I have the go-ahead from Rachy.

You'll note on his blog the JIT isn't finished and there's still some maths instructions to do.

Could someone explain how to install and test?

Should i install on a separate folder? If i install this JIT version, the installation could change something in the integrated emulation of OS4/Run in UAE?

I used the OS4 Depot version of e-uae, copying in the .uaerc file from RunInUAE and making the required config changes from the JIT README.

I didn't touch the existing RunInUAE installation at all, for fear of messing it up somehow

Weird, whenever JIT is activated all my kestrokes are repeated. And it's the same with my joypad.

Playing a flipper or typing a text is impossible if JIT is enabled. When disabled, I do not encounter any trouble.

Which point in the video? I'm certain only WinUAE added it recently, within the last couple of years.

Richard Drummond here says E-UAE doesn't have MMU support: link

Perhaps it only reports an MMU.

I think the 040 came with an MMU and so that's why it's reported. If you tried some programs that need an MMU (ShapeShifter doesn't need one), I think they'll fail.

I could build an SDL version of e-uae JIT, but like I said, I won't be putting it on OS4Depot for now since the JIT is still in very early beta.

I will send you a PM on here soon.
