After recording with SRec how do I play the recorded file?

If I double click it it says: "Uknown datatype for xxxxx" where xxxxx is the name I gave the file...

Anyone?

Thanks!

I assume you saved it as .mp3?

Anyway you need a program to play it that supports your file.
In the case of MP3, try TuneNet or SimplePlay

Srec creates a video, not an audio file.

@TheDaddy

Strange, you should have an icon for such file. Anyway, DVplayer or Mplayer are your friends.

Thanks guys...

DVplayer or Mplayer won't play it...it's been saved in avi (the default setting)...

Or if I double click it it gives the same error: "Uknown datatype for xxxxx"

If I open it with DVPlayer I get: "file is not recognised as a supported movie format"

and if I drop it in MPlayer I just get a pink screen.

Well I've had no problem playing back AVIs created with SRec, make sure you have the correct libraries installed as per the documentation.

I also find the Video Codec should be set to Motion JPEG so it doesn't stretch the CPU performance too much.

@TheDaddy
That just mean you record it in some format which didn't supported by players. The best way its fireup VirtualDub on win32, load file to it, and convert properly to any other format.

or use FFMpeg, should be able to convert it just fine and without the need of a second machine

But isn't it strange that an OS4 application (SRec) records in a format not supported by an OS4 player?

It must be a library thing...

You can download mplayer Leitmotiv from this page: http://www.amigasoft.net/pages/mplayer/mplayer.asp

It will play the video directly.

Sounds like you are saving to AVI with MJpeg codec,

which mplayer are you using? MUI-Mplayer will not play AVI-MJpeg

I keep both mplayers installed as neither is perfect ...

You could convert it with ffmpeg before viewing, or try xvid (divx) codec instead.

Well MUI-Mplayer for me did play AVI-Mjpeg... however very slowly.

Hi Thematic and TheDaddy,
SRec & Mplayer = Leitmotiv version
That's the one that always worked for me...
You gotta set-up SRec and MPlayer configs to get this:

@broadblues

Muimplayer just has some issue with overlay, that some other versions don't. If the codec is recognized but the output doesn't work, use -vo cgx_wpa . Similarly use -ao ahi_dev if the sound output is way off (frequency).
