One question:

Do you have something USB, inserted on your computer, that make, at same interval, an USB reset ???

(for example here I have an PS2toUSB adapter) that reset the USB sometime (maybe one time per 15 minuts).

Not me, just a USB hub. I have a Playstation2 to USB adapter but it wasn't plugged in when I was using the mp3 player or thumb drive.

I'm using a plug-in USB card in my A1XE if that makes a difference.

Apologies if this isnt the right place, but it seems as good as any:
I know VIA chipsets are preferred for USB in 4.1.1, but is this restricted ?
In essence, I'm looking at USB 2.0* PCI cards, and there are some cheap ones in Maplin at the mo...

*yeah yeah I know only usb 1 is supported at the mo, but 2.0 will be soon wont it ?

Any chipset will do. For me being an SE Owner I can't use the VIA UHCI device at all - the machine hangs during startup if I leave it enabled in the Kicklayout. So I use a NEC 5 port PCI card, via ohci.usbhcd. This seems to be the type of card most people choose.

Also some things to add to the list that work with update 1 that didn't before.

Sigma KMS500 wireless Kbd/Mouse
EMTEC 4Gb Memory stick
CF-RS205 SD to USB adaptor.

Where did you find the name of your kbd/mouse kombo?

I have a wireless logitech kbd/mouse kombo. Usb and ps2 with a reciever. But no naming on either of them. And the box has probably been swedish toilet paper by now.

That cheapo card was still there, I've finally got round to installing it (I've had to ditch the floppy drive - I needed the external 3.5" bay) and it works lovely !

I've already tried these, and they work:
Memory stick (Freecom 2GB),
USB Player (IItronic 128MB),
Logic3 5 axis 12 button flightstick.

I have plugged in a couple of other USB devices recently:

1. Duracell 8GB USB Memory Drive
(I use this for backups and it works very well. Formatted SFS\0.)

2. LaCie external 80GB 3.5" HD
(This is FAT32 format and I can _read_ from it. I am not brave enough to try writing.)

I still have some other things I haven't tried.

Has anyone tried a USB-to-RS232 adapter? I am still on dialup and I'd like to have a working serial port.

Devices that DO NOT work:
- Transcend JetFlash 4GB (gets recognized but the OS complains about "broken cluster geometry" - works fine on the PC, though)

I have a nice Corsair Voyager 4GB that does the same thing. Interestingly, it doesn't work under Mac OSX 10.3 either, but works under 10.4, and under XP and Ubuntu 9.10... Perhaps a clue is in that it shows up as a USB embedded hub first under XP, then as a mass storage device.

Edit: Meant to add that my Nikon D90 works just fine with PTP transfers (though AOS doesn't have a clue what to do with the RAW files once they're downloaded ), and my old Nikon D80 worked fine in Mass Storage mode, but that was under 4.0 and 4.1, so I assume it'll work with 4.1u1...

Cables Unlimited USB 2.0 to IDE & SATA cable. Works fine at 1.1 speeds on MicroA1 with OS4.1u1.

For best results, I use the included power supply even for 2.5" IDE drives as not to pull too much current through the USB port.
