hi tryed reinstalling os 4 to my ppc 1200
with sfs but all l got was the machine whould lock after few secs and it say ram lib erorr l have taken memory and card out and still nothing so reinstalled fastfilesystem 07 Long file names and it fine.
never had this problem before .
l like to use sfs as it alot faster and fastfile really works my ide hd alot.

thanks for any help what settings should l use , l thought must be because l have to use long file name settings but cant seem to work that part out what to change. had set to 02 and 00 both did the same thing.

Quote:444f5303 and 444f5307 are DOSTypes of FFS2, for SFS you have to use 53465300 (or 0x53465302 for SFS\2), both for the SFS partitions (there you should be able to select "SFS\00" in the type cycle gadget instead of having to use "Custom filesystem" and entering the number) and when installing SmartFileSystem in the RDB ("Add, remove or edit filesystems", you have to enter/change the type number manually).

thanks for that just typing this using owb pretty neat yes l did select 00 from the gadget tryed to enter manually , but l didnt change it in the rigid disk block part just selected the filesystem as afs didnt change the settings, will try again.
