Program (paint) that can save DPaint compatible .iff?

Hey there,

i'm trying to resurrect a game where i need to update some .iff's.

Unfortunately, so far i have only found DSPaint to correctly output the iff i need for the program to work (320x256x8).
256 color aga would that be.

The trouble now is that DPaint can't understand .png (the format the updated images are in and neither Multiviewer nor grafx2 can save the correct format for DPaint to read (I/O error).

Is there a (paint) program (or other) that can convert .png images to 256 color .iffs?

Thanks in advance

Hi,
I took 2 random PNG on the net

http://www.pngall.com/kiwi-png
http://www.pngall.com/photoshop-logo-png

and tried with PPaint 7.3c and AmiTransformator from the Alinea-Computer website. (very neat little tool!)

Both resulted in 256col ILBM pictures. I could open them without problem in DPaintV AGA in e-uae on OS4.1.xFE.
I noticed however that DPaint can't load them, if the file name length exceeds 31 characters.

:)

AmiTransformator didn't cut it, don't know why, seems it changes the palette in the transformation process or something.

But thank you for the note about the path length, that actually produced the I/O error and i can convert along

Images done, now for the player data...

ImageFX would be the best bet, will be able to render out the ILBMs in any color depth you need and wil understand most PNGs

I remember there's a patch tool in Aminet which patches DPaint to use datatypes. I remember being amazed using DPaint from 1988 to load PNG format invented in 1996, long time ago. Something you couldn't dream of on a Windows PC back then.
