Perhaps next step 7z archiver ?
It has the same problem we had with rar, our current version is too old so it doesn't open recent files out there

I'm already working on it

Unlike unrar, p7zip 16.02 compiled almost immediately. I just added some AmigaOS specific code to get the number of CPUs and memory available.

However on first tests it didn't seem to be able to open any archives, always claiming "No such file or directory". It seems I've managed to fix that by replacing lstat() and stat() calls with their 64-bit counterparts though.

It should have large file support, but I haven't tested it.

Also, like with Joerg's port, if you use absolute paths you may have to use unix style ("/volume/dir/file" instead of "volume:dir/file") for it to work correctly. I might try and see if this can be fixed later.

Well tested with some files, some multiple big files aswell and all worked as expected, the only problem is in case files are inside a folder, in that particolar case the files will be extracted, but outside their folder !

That means folders will be empty and all files will be extracted outside of them, maybe because you need to fix that "unix like" absolute paths issue ?

Aniway what is exactly the latest version ?
You ported the 16.02, but on official site there seems to be 2 versions, 16.04 and 18.05

You are using "7za x <archive>"?

If you use the "e" command it will ignore archive directory structure and extract everything into the same directory (that is how it's supposed to work).

It's a great improvement, first with the recent UnRAR and now with the newest 7zip we are now able to open the vast majority of the archives

Big thanks

I haven't read through the whole thread, but is the "7z" in your archive meant to go into libs:xad/ ?

If not, would it be possible to add an updated xad/7z (same for unrar?)

EDIT:

I might have something mixed up here, can i use your unrar/7zip with UnArc out of the box, if so where would i need to put them files?

They are command line tools. If you want XAD plugins you can try mine:
https://www.unsatisfactorysoftware.co.uk/download.php?file=xad7z
https://www.unsatisfactorysoftware.co.uk/download.php?file=xad_rar

The 7z one should be able to open everything, but the RAR one will only open RAR3 format files or older.

and... here's a RAR5 plugin. Minimal testing as I don't have any RAR5 files.
