Re: Some questions regarding OS4 for Classic Amigas

Well, if you want full and decent SCSI support so badly, then the answer is quite simple:

Sit down on your a** and start developing!!

Just "wanting" and "demanding" is not enough nowadays. If you want something being available and nobody else is able or motivated enough to do it, then the consequence must be to either do it yourself or to stick with what you have.

The ability of MOS to use the SCSI hardware is quite different. The core MOS developers had access to the source code and could use it for free (I think, I don't know). But this does not apply for the OS4 team. And if OS4 would be delayed even further or cost the double amount just because of SCSI support for much less users than the number of OS4 (classic) users in general, the majority would be even more upset.

Just realized that the following was not stated yet so I do it:

OS4 for classic Amigas only supports main memory on the
BPPC/CSPPC board (and chip memory on the motherboard).

Things like Zorro memory expansion boards or mainboard
"FastRAM" are not supported. The motherboard memory would
be 16MB max only anyway and slow (from the PPC CPU point
of view), Zorro memory would be probably even slower.

So when you are preparing your classic Amiga for OS4,
populate the PPC board with memory, not the motherboard
(except the 2MB ChipRAM) or Zorro boards.

with "OS4 for classic Amigas only supports main memory on the BPPC/CSPPC board (and chip memory on the motherboard)", are you saying that the RAM on the mobo is not seen by AmigaOS4 or that it will not starts?

thanks in advance.

OS4 will simply ignore the motherboard FastRAM.
