ProAction is a ReAction based "GUI framework" for any scripting language with ARexx support, python, perl, ARexx itself of course and more.

http://www.broad.ology.org.uk/amiga/proaction/

There are examples on the website and I use it extensively with SketchBlock, so you can raid it's Rexx drawer for examples too.

Once you start using it if you find you need support for gadgets or tags not yet implemented please let me know and I'll add them.

The problem is that there are NO programmers left that code native amigaoid os software so we need to port toolkits and linux stuff. But i'm not complaining as i'm liking the QT port as well as the mplayer and other linux ports

What is it with Kiwis and that Kea bird? ;)

They're one of the smartest birds in the world, if not the smartest.** Plus, they're incredibly cheeky.

Of course thats not my "premise" did you read my post?

Broadblues, besides you Spirantho, djkirri and a handful of others who do we have coding native os4 programs?

I dont see how this is really an arguable point. Just look at the actual os development how slow. There are only a few people in the world that can code AMIGA api stuff. Most of the big ones are involved in core os4 and Morphos teams, outside of that very small.

Even when I was with Genesi and we had finance for development it was VERY hard to get native stuff done. Look what happened with MOrphos in 20003 almost fell apart after Zapek quit. The point is there are very few guys left. Luckily Ralph S and Frank M are very devoted to the platform.

Where would os4 be with literally 2 guys the Freiden brothers? You are talking less than 100 developers gloably who could or would want to actively code for Amigaoid systems.

I did read it, and being the scatterbrain I am I misread one word, for which I apologize.

Yes the Frieden brothers are certainly core OS4 devs, but sadly, certain hostile factions on various forums appear to have driven them away from daily interaction with AmigaOS4 users.

Which is good for them. They don't have time to waste discussing at nauseum the every day rants and questions and comments

Did anything came out of this?
This andst guy doesn't seem to have had much interest in it anyway.

iirc he was even given an AmigaOS4 compatible machine

No. At least, nothing that I've heard of.

I've personally stopped using wxWidgets altogether. While I like the idea behind it, the overall project has (IMHO) stagnated. For example, the planned ports to Android/iOS haven't materialized.

This is all backwards for better, easier future ports we need MUI ported to at least linux, get them to use our superior (relativly lightweight) GUI instead of trying to port their overbloated offerings

Well Mui/Reaction is too basic for complex applications, this my impression, this way like my own GUI's not restricted to basic gui elements.

Once thins is ported to Linux, things mutate,

Take Allegro5 vs Allegro4, well basically it the same thing but in Allegro5 they renamed every function, this ok in linux world where different versions of same library can exist at same time, in Amiga land, this does not work, when library is loaded, it shared.

Well it can be worked around for sure, but it's not the Amiga way.

We can use .so files like do for ports, and use symlinks and stuff like that to solve this, but then you import the Linux mess.
