Zaphod - well known os3.x binary editor now aos4 native

Some days ago Zaphod sources was released at sourceforge, and Marust did a port of it to AROS. After a very little aos4 changes i compile it to os4, and you can grab it from os4depot (for now in upload query). Screenshot:

The only one bug for now which i notice : crash when you try to call an "about" window, but for release i just disable About checking (do nothing for now), and hope soon it will be fixed. In general all works as should, but if some of you will found problems, write here.

So we have Zaphod AND FileX - like I have on my OS3.9 machines. Excellent, thanks!

Cool! Then I can scrap my plans of a hex mode in Annotate. Would save a year or so of development

Thanks, I've been using the M68k version for years and it's nice to have a native version

Minor issue: the menu Settings->Textdarstellungsart, as the label implies, is not translated.

This is great stuff, I often used a hex editor back in the day. The one with a blue background and white writing LOL.

I'm hoping this one is a good one I never did like FileX

cheers!

Not sure why we need Zaphod, when we have FilerX v2 (which also looks very similar anyway IMHO). But I guess choice is good...

How do I search for hex?? I only seem to be able to find ASCII or something. I entered 0x0064 and it finds "0016" and "0036" sequences and ASCII characters '64'. I want to find the hex value 0064 in the hex.

It's a littlebit different with Zaphod, 'cos it searches ASCII and HEX in parallel. Your search term would look like this: $00$64
AND (!) you have to tick the "account for captialisation"gadget active.

New version on os4depot, new since last:

-- fix a heavy crash (variable "win" was used before it had set its value).
-- mason icons
-- spanish catalog
-- some other small fixes and cleanups

I recently noticed something that I would consider a problem rather than a bug. If you have your OS4 GUI/Controls prefs set to "Resize window with contents", the Zaphod scrollbar goes crazy with excessive updates when you resize it's window. Maybe it's unavoidable with a GadTools GUI but it would be nince if it could be fixed. Can you report this problem to the Zaphod team?
