If you have any ideas for more default pointer types to help Mason with this project then feel free to post them here or on OpenAmiga directly.

def_columnresizepointer.info is twice in the list.

The included pdf states that the def pointers are in env-archive/sys, on my OS4.1 install i don't see them. I have pointers in prefs/presets/pointers but I don't see any in env-arc.

Or am I just being stupid (again).

You are supposed to put them there (envarc:sys)

OS4.x already supports that you put a 32 bit normal and busy pointer in there. (def_pointer.info and def_busypointer.info).

Read the list in the pdf document. The list on the project page was just an initial proposal created before the project was started.

So, you're saying that, if I put the def_pointers in env-archive/sys, they will automatically be used on OS4.x.

If so what about old programs written prior to OS4.0?
I am particularly thinking about Turbocalc here.

Only the normal and busy pointer. For the others the software needs to implement support for them.Such as in the way OWB supports them.

Since there was never a standard for more pointer types than the original two ones applications up to now had to rely on their own pointers.

No amount of system patches can get old programs that use their own pointers to use other pointers. You'd need to patch each application individually to do that.
