Just booted on SAM will release some screenshots on my site... be patient... coming soon

remember to unplug KVM, use mouse on lower port and KB on upper port of SAM, in UBoot choose DVD as bootdevice... otherwise I also get a black screen...

regards gerograph

O.k. here there are, made dropshadow in GuiPrefs a bit darker and sharper... I think does look best on lighter background.

@Rigo

Yes, I just got it to boot. However, given I can't be the only person to have burned the disc on the system he's installing it on, and then pressed C+A+A, it should have been put somewhere a little obvious (and crashing with a black screen because the kickstart is too old, with no error message? Not good).

Nonetheless at least I'm getting there now. :)

I just wasted ANOTHER hour.

The file downloaded is still corrupted and bigger than the size it initially says it is going to be.

Just what is going on here ?

I obviously cannot spend hours and hours downloading corrupt files that do not work.

Can someone from Hyperion contact me and send me the update on CD.

Unless you happen to be priviledged to have fast connections this method of distribution by download is just not good enough.

I just downloaded the file and it worked the first time. Seems to be a problem for you.

@all

I have forgotten how to get the rest of the screenmodes. It shows only a couple and the highest one is at 1200x1024 i think. Want something a bit bigger.

I've downloaded it, format my system partition and the installition hangs at 96%. Then I get a message from the grim reaper! It sucks!
I tried to start from cd and install it then. Now the grim reaper pops up at 99%. The last file displayed is always "ukrainan_ISO-8859-5.language".

The grim reaper says: "sys:utilities/installation utility", function: "ReleaseDirContent() tracker."

Switched back to 4.1 without the update

Any ideas what can the problem be?

In that case I would've choosen 50/50 too... besides I choosed to only have 10Mbit up since it was much cheaper so you can send files faster than me ...

My parents got 100/100 for 200 SEK/month (20?)... that would be nice.

The new versions of DvPlayer and tunenet are also very cool

What have you found?

ok, that's what I've found and many of them already mentioned:

New OWB with close buttons per tab
New Tunenet that rocks!
New DVPlayer with a sound scope
New WBStartup system
New interconnection system via Rhino-something :p
New subdocky, dunno what's improved, but much bigger filesize. Could be the compilation change though.
New icons (how obvious was that?)
New gfx mode for lower mem consumption, but slower framerate
New mouse pointer
New Directory Opus 4
New titlebar info
New GUI element adjustable drop shadows

Probably more, some of them already mentioned in the update description anyway.

ok kids asleep now I'm playing aorund with the update...first thing I noticed was that the ayto netwrok inetrenet connection didnt work this time around druing the installtion as it did with the original 4.1 CD...had to go into Internet prefs and click on the DHCP tab and voila..I'm now typing this on my Sam via OWB
The next thing I noticed, and like, is that the new fonts in general, and more specifically in OWB are much, much nicer than before..much clearer and crisper on my monitor!! anyway damn its like past midnight and I just started playing but argghh must get to sleep cause gotta wake up early ..damn this is the exact same feeling I used to have as akid when I had a breaththrough in Ultima IV & just could'nt sleep until I figured it out

In a shell type lha x (filename) destination.

It will skip over the erronous material. This worked for me. I didn't see the message about not using Ibrowse i was just too keen. Stick with it as it is worth it.

Is it just me or has the startup sound by Hirasawasan changed?
The one from 4.1 had more high pitched instruments in it, this new release is by far more discreet and very pleasant to my ears. I LOVE it!

More OS documentation has been added aswell as the Workbench Help

An URLOpen Handler has been added, making OpenURL obsolete, i think

What is odd so far...

There is a XPKMaster guide in Documents, the XPK Tools in C and the XPKMaster.library in Libs:, but there doesn't seem to be the exe anywhere. The documents tells to add the exe to WBStartup, but where is it?
Also there is no Prefs in Prefs although the guide says so...?

At GUI prefs you may choose between aggressive memory consumption that results into faster gfx updates and conservative memory consumption that's a bit slower, but eats much less video memory. I suppose ppl with 64mb gfx mem will benefit from that.

I think that option was always there? But now it seems to default to being memory efficient, which maybe it didn't before?

Just quoting from aw.net
Had forgotten about that usb port. Hehe. Nice work from hyperion and acube.

Quote:

With OS4.1 Update 1, it's now possible to use the 5th internal USB port, the one attached directly to the 440ep SoC (J17 on both Sam mini-itx and Sam flex boards)

To enable the port, just enter from the OS4.1 shell:

c:nvsetvar usb_enable_440ep 1

From my own tests, this port is a little bit faster then the others (while support for USB2 isn't released yet)

Really? Maybe so, I can't really recall for sure, but I thought there wasn't such an option. My bad! :p
