Flower Pot went Linux

Flower Pot is now available for Linux platform thanks to George Sokianos and his PlayOnLinux install script!

With Flower Pot you can install AmigaOS4.1 on your Windows or Mac very easily. Now the Linux version is also available.

But if you already have a Windows version of Flower Pot, simply install PlayOnLinux, download and run the Install Script, and follow the prompts.

Really intersting since I was not intersted by the other versions (my PC runs only Linux).

I'll check this out when we come back from the Ouf'Part in Swizterland.

Well, even with FlowerPot (which helped a lot), it took me about 3 hours to have something working (more or less).

I'm using Linux Mageia r5 on an AMD FX9370@4,5Ghz

I managed to configure WinUAE to use UAEGFX instead of the limited Picasso IV.

Honnestly : it remains slow as hell. Everything is slow (I'm used to my X1000) and unstable when you want to push the system a little bit further. I get random freezes without any reason.

Even my Sam440@733Mhz is much faster and more stable.

I tried FS-UAE PPC but it doesn't support UAEGFX in the PPC emulation.

AmiKit : I'm not smoking anything " bro' ".

I wanted to tune it my way and your default configuration lacks too many things FlowerPot helps to get rid of the 1st troubles (most complicated ones) which could help new OS4 users but no those used to the system as I am.

I also had to install a recent version of PoL in order to use FlowerPot.

Okay, feel free to provide your feedback to Hyperion and/or WinUAE developer as your comments are not related to Flower Pot itself - which worked just fine for you and exactly as advertised.

Can you please share your system specs? Unfortunately, the PPC emulation by winuae is still slow, and it needs a really powerful computer to be usable. Also, most of the crashes, as I understand it, most of the times come from the network emulation. Try to use AmigaOS 4.1 FE Classic without using internet connection. If you can, close it totally, and check how stable it is.

I know exactly what you mean about the speed of X1000, but it is totally wrong to compare X1000 with an emulation. At least this is my opinion.
