cool softsynth/303 emulator/tracker to port!
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

See User information
protrekkr is an open source softsynth with a tracker interface, i wanted to give it a heads up for someone who wants a porting challenge. it's written using SDL.

what makes this different from the others is that it's a quite advanced softsynth, i.e. not sample based as most other trackers, it even has a built in 303 emulator. :)

think of it like a little brother to renoize.

ports exists for win/lin/mac (ppc/x86).
so there shouldn't be any endian issues.

there is also sources for a winamp plugin included, so a tunenet plugin could be made.

midi and sample packing might need to be disabled though, but i think sample packing should work.

anyone interested?

- Midi in/out support.

Sorry, I have too much going on right now.
Finding a job is getting near impossible, it looks like I'll be selling my house soon.

Besides, I choose my own projects. You should know that by now Kicko!

I know a lot of people want good trackers for the Amiga, I wish you success with this port.

It wasnt i offered you to port the actual program. Maybe they could use the camd.library and ask you howto. But as i see your busy i take it back. ;)

Sorry for your economy problems. Have alot of friends and theirs friends that lost they job. Many of them took loans.

I have it compiled and working now:

It's extremely slow at the moment though, because it seems that something is constantly eating up almost all the CPU. I'm looking into this problem right now.

just for comparison, on my 900mhz eee pc the 303 test.ptk tune is using 50-60% cpu time.
so something similiar should probably be possible?

edit: devenirunpoulet.ptk is to cpu hungry for my eee.
the others play fine.

edit2: for those interested, the developer posts status updates on pouet:

I managed to speed up protrekkr by quite a lot by making protrekkr only update it's display 25 times per second instead of 100 times and changing from window mode into fullscreen mode.

Now the "303 test.ptk" uses only about ~50% CPU when playing.

I've uploaded the program and source code to OS4Depot and Aminet.

Sorry for false report. It was ScreenThumbs which caused that lock up. I have to find out what's wrong in it.
