@Slayer and nbache : I will say in summary : - If someone wants to add an harddrive on a Sam motherboard, if it is not recognized in Mediatoolbox directly, just set the 'sii3114ide_conf' variable to '1112' (assuming there is an optical device on the J23 connector), For the speed of the devices : - For harddrives : the max speed will be obtain with the 'G' value in the 'sii3114ide_xfer' variable, - For optical drives, according to those I have tested : my advise is to set the 'sii3114ide_xfer' to 0 in order to let the motherboard using the best pio mode for this device. I just precize that for optical drives, the SlimSata devices can cause some freeze when booting on the AmigaOS 4.1 CD if the 'sii3114ide_xfer' is set to G. @Slayer
I confirm that 0 is for no device attached, 1 for an harddrive connected and 2 for an optical drive connected.
For the sii3114ide_conf, it seems that if the user has set the s4sii_maxbus variable to 1, there is no need of this sii3114ide_conf variable, it has to be confirmed.
Happy to see it has solved the problem ;)

@Slayer
I talk about Sam exclusively, not AmigaOne or Micro AmigaOne at all.
The sii3114ide_conf variable is not required if AmigaOS 4.1 recognize all devices connected to the motherboard.
In case MediaToolBox doesn't recognize some 'extra' harddisk, user must set this variable according to his connected devices.

@amigadad
Ok, let's try something :
- Connect your original HDD to the J20 connector and your DVDRW to the J23 connector, - Connect your new HDD to the J21 or J22 connector (as you wish).
After that, start up your Sam and stop the autoboot for typing the following command : - 'sete sii3114ide_conf 1112' - 'save' - 'reset'
I precise that 'sete' is working as well as 'setenv' in UBoot.
Boot on AmigaOS 4.1 and MediaToolBox should see all the harddisks now.
Note that setting the sii3114ide_conf variable to '1112' will certainly slow down AmigaOS 4.1 after the splash screen, it's normal.
If you don't set this variable to tell to uBoot what devices are connected on the motherboard, it gives your behaviour in most of case.
For your Linux problem, I've been experiencing the same behaviour since last week for the net install ; the complete install (with the iso of 680MB from ACube site) is also stopping at 'select and install software' (1%). It seems that we now have to install it with the LAN cable deconnected, Elwood will confirm it today I think.

@amije
For informations, video dvd has no special format.
In fact, the only special thing needed for a video dv is the 2 drawers AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS to be present on the DVD.
Video DVD are sipmply normal DVD with these 2 drawers in it, nothing more.

@ALL : There is a simplier way to do this. Simply copy the 2 drawers (AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS) of the DVD on your harddisk, launch Frying Pan, drag'n'drop the 2 drawers in the first window of Frying Pan (disk image constructor) and click on Write. If the DVD is encrypted / protected, I don't know if it works but I have done this with many original DVD and all of it works. That's all ;) Faranheit

For the Sam440Flex, you're obliged to take te graohic board with the motherboard, but the first post talked about Sam440EP not Flex one ;)

@ALL:
There is no advantage in using a graphic card on a Sam440EP because the PCI slot is at only 33Mhz !
The integrated chipset is at 66Mhz, so you will have more video memory with a graphic card but slower than the integrated one.
Take care of this !
Also, here at IMM Informatique, we still have some Sam440EP in Stock with AmigaOS 4.1 in stock too, contact me directly if you want it ;)

Good answer ;)
Like Slayer has said it, add +RB or -RB if +RB fails.
I have got this problem after several minutes of my sam usage.
In fact, it does that specially on big resolutions from 1600 x 1200 or 1680 x 1080 and above, on lower resolution, there is not the problem apparently.

@SoundSquare Just take a look at the french guide I have made for AmigaOS 4.1 installation on Pegasos II. You can download it HERE ! I think you have not chosen Unit 0 for the muscical unit but VIA ..., and this way I have noticed the AHI channels are closed by the first software which uses it. Prefer to choose 'Unit 0 ..' instead of 'VIA ...' for the musical unit. Hope it will help ;) Laurent aka Faranheit

@caver99 Please take a look at the installation guide I have done. You can download it HEREThere's some hints at the end of this giude For example, in order to force U-Boot to use harddisk or optical type of peripheral, you can set a specific variable : sete sii3114ide_conf 1002 '1' is used for harddisk, '2' for optical devices and '0' for nothing. Also, please not that harrdisk should be connected to the J20 connector of the motherboard and the optical drive shoubd be connected to the J23 connector. Hope it will help ;) Laurent aka Faranheit
